WASHINGTON - "The culture of anti-Semitism at the U.N. is a surrogate for anti-America," exclaimed U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton at a political dinner. The diplomat also decried "a culture of inaction" at the world body.
Bolton, whose detractors at the time of his nomination demeaned his reputed toughness as an impediment to his effectiveness at the sensitive post, gave a Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) dinner audience a dose of his no-nonsense approach to the world body.
As featured speaker at CPAC's Ronald Reagan Banquet at the Omni-Shoreham's Regency Ballroom, Bolton touched on a number of topics, explaining to the GOP crowd that the U.N. was in a "critical time," and emphasizing that the Security Council was going to be historically "tested" by the crisis over Iran's nuclear ambitions.
The diplomat ominously reminded the audience Friday night that President Bush had already clearly and forcefully laid down the gauntlet on the Iran issue, declaring as an immutable doctrine of policy: "The United States will not accept an Iran with nuclear weapons."
Referencing Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's clarion call for a "revolution of reform at the U.N.," Bolton noted that he was not shy about applying the terms "waste, fraud and abuse" -- decrying especially the reported episodes of sexual abuse by U.N. peacekeepers.

He's turned out to be exactly what we needed at the UN (as promised by the President and feared by the Dems).
Hang about...we ARE looking for a candidate in '08...
Exactly right. Another great appointment by President GWB.
I'm optimistic about John Bolton...now lets see what he does outside CPAC. Action..John.
What a breath of fresh air this man is.
You can see the web cast of the speach on c-span.
I hope he does. Take the fight to the RATs if they ask for it.
What about Bolton/Coburn or Coburn/Bolton '08?
You're right and having just read Gore's latest slam at the USA and the WOT in Saudi Arabia of all places(up on Drudge), I can only imagine where we would be today if he had been elected in 1999. It's scary, scary, scary.
We all know how despicable the Dems are but your comment reminds even more. They opposed Alito over some benign group he belonged to 20 years ago and Bolton because they claimed he may have raised his voice to a subordinate somewhere along the line. It is a shame that we have a party that is so disruptive and so unconcerned with the future of the country as to oppose such good men as those over such nonsense.
Al Gore's speech in Saudi this weekend really points out the danger the left is placing out country in these days and if someone like Clinton was our representative to the UN our danger meter would rise into the red zone. They don't understand the world we live in these days.
Carolyn, unfortunately they do understand what they are doing. This is not by accident. They support the terrorists, not us. They intend to take over this country and they think another attack on this country would enhance their chances. They would accuse Bush of high crimes and misdemeaners and try to impeach him. It won't work but that is their plan.
If Clinton went to the UN he would quickly be selected as the Secretary General. That would mean he ran the UN, Hillary as President would basically run the US (laws mean nothing to her as we have seen) and another one of their cronies would be our ambassador to the UN. That would pretty well wrap up their control and we could kiss our country goodbye.
She told OR that as goes SF goes the country; he practically laughed her off the segment.
Nope, I did not see that but I wish I had. I was freeping, cooking and watching snippets of O'Reilly as I walked through the living room.
