Like her husband, Hillary Rodham Clinton can work a room, remembering names and personal details, and dazzling acquaintances along the way. And like Bill Clinton, she can master arcane details of public policy, wowing experts in several fields.
But as a public speaker, Hillary Rodham Clinton is no Bill Clinton, and that became all too apparent at Coretta Scott King's funeral last week, when the two made a rare public appearance together.
The crowd burst into boisterous applause and a standing ovation as Mr. Clinton took the stage and delivered his address, off the cuff, with what many said was the mellifluence of a preacher.
But when it was Mrs. Clinton's turn at the microphone, the room became more subdued, as she offered more formal remarks, in her characteristically deliberate and measured style.
To her critics and admirers, the moment was a reminder that for all her skills as a politician, Mrs. Clinton is not known for her ability to move people with the power of her oratory, something that could prove a liability should she run for the presidency in 2008.
"She is going to have to learn to bite her lip," offered former Gov. Mario M. Cuomo, referring to the former president's knack for doing just that (à la Elvis) during emotional high points in his speeches.
"She doesn't have the theatrical instinct that he has," said Mr. Cuomo, who is himself considered one of the more gifted speakers of his generation. "She is more a Methodist, and he is more theatrical."
To be sure, Mrs. Clinton is a major draw on the Democratic circuit, packing rooms like no other Democrat, perhaps with the exception of her husband. But people who have watched her closely say that her style as a speaker, and as a politician,

"Hillary, I have to tell you, I knew Bill and you are no Bill Clinton. I also knew Jane Fonda, now..."
This is what I've always said to people. She comes off as patronizing, shrill, and utterly devoid of humanity when she speaks in public.
She's a lot better in a sit-down with a reporter.
A few of my more liberal friends who have heard her speak a few times, compare it to "nails across a chalkboard" when she tries to show emotion.
Cuomo is destined to go down in history as one of the most pathetic losers of all time. To think that that jerk could have been President - but Cuomo chickened out and did not seek the Demo/Commie nomination, all because GHW Bush was riding a wave of popularity following his Gulf War I triumph. Only to have a draft-dodging lip biter slither into office instead. You can just imagine Cuomo sobbing under his breath, every time that he sees Clinton's face, "that could have been me... I could've been a contender"... Makes my heart warm just thinking about it...
Not to stick up for Bill Clinton, but his main problem is that he just wants to be liked. Hillary could care less if everybody hates her guts. She wants power. The difference shows.

Nonsense.
I doubt even that...the womyn has absolutely no credentials other than a gimme Senate win in New York. Nada, zip, nary a nary.
At times she is and very shrill, at other times she is an emotionally detached ice queen, like at Mrs. King's funeral. Neither style is likable. Her lack of likability may likely do her in.
Mario Cuomo tries awfully hard to paint her drawbacks as a virtue. Won't work. Either you have it or you don't, and she doesn't have it.
That is 100%. Hillary can run, but she can't hide. The more people hear her, the less they will want to.
I'm not really sure you've made her look more masculine.
One thing that people forget about Bill Clinton is that he was a professional politician, he was a multiple termed state attorney general, as well as several successful elections as Governor, before his successfull elections as President.
Hillary Clinton only became a name after Bill was elected, but during her first lady years, she campaigned as a politically active spouse, not as a candidate in her own right, she did media interviews but only a few public speeches, she has had only one political campaign, her speaking skills are still very very undeveloped.
Its easier to mold someone into a good interview "1 on 1 subject" interview then it is to make them a good public speaker, but its harder if they have picked up all sorts of bad habits over the years. Hillary has never, ever had the kind of staff or handlers that Bill had or any of his speaking skills or even his strong points.
Where as he was named "slick willie" for his spinning skills, she just doesn't have them, and for some odd reason, for a woman who wants to be president, has never made the attempt to develop them.

She knows everything, she was never wrong when you were married and still thinks she's right about everything still. She has yet to figure out that you were always smarter than her because you let her think that because she needed to so badly. She thought she took you to the cleaners in the divorce but you thought it was worth the money just to get away from her.
Hillary has only one chance to get votes from most of the males in this country. And that's to get the best plastic surgeon in the world to make her look just like Jessica Simpson. Rotsa ruck...
The liberal Dem males I work with all are talking McCain. Not a word about Hillary.
