WASHINGTON - Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald should investigate Vice President Dick Cheney and others in the CIA leak probe if they authorized an aide to give secret information to reporters, Democratic and Republican senators said Sunday.
(SNIP)
Sen. George Allen (news, bio, voting record), R-Va., said a full investigation is necessary.
"I don't think anybody should be releasing classified information, period, whether in the Congress, executive branch or some underling in some bureaucracy," said Allen, who appeared with Reed on "Fox News Sunday."

What in the world is Allen thinking? This plays right into the other side's hands.

Since we know that Leahy, Kennedy, Rockefeller, et al. leak national security secrets all of the time, when is Allen going to grow the balls to demand an investigation of his Senate colleagues. Allen just ensured I'll never vote for him in the GOP primaries in '08. Putz.

Fitzgerald probably planted these stories from his staff.

What a bozo. The president and vice president can declassify anything their little hearts desire for any reason. However, senators and Congressman can't on their own.

Did anyone else notice that Sen. Jack Reed looks like Elmer Fudd.

Haven't we had enough of this shell game? VALERIE PLAME WAS NOT A COVERT CIA AGENT, and her "outing" was in no way a threat to National Security. Someone DID leak very important, classified information DIRECTLY PERTAINING to our tactics in keeping ahead of the ENEMY OF THE UNITED STATES. Lets get to the REAL threats to this nation, shall we?

Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald should investigate Vice President Dick Cheney and others in the CIA leak probe if they authorized an aide to give secret information to reporters, Democratic and Republican senators said Sunday. Allen did not say that!
This is exactly what he said...
''I don't think anybody should be releasing classified information, period, whether in the Congress, executive branch or some underling in some bureaucracy," said Allen, who appeared with Reed on ''Fox News Sunday."
Allen expressed confidence in Fitzgerald, whom he called ''a very articulate, professional prosecutor." ''And I think the facts will lead wherever they lead, and I think he will prosecute as appropriate," he said.

I think Cheney should invite several DemocRAT senators to go hunting.

Cool your jets, this is about the NIE (National Intelligence Estimate). They can probe all they like, these "charges" aren't going anywhere - it just gets elements of the prosecution's side in the news. Meanwhile, elements of the defense side receive no attention whatsoever. It's just too boring that Fitzgerald's team continually denies they should be required to show any sort of harm in the Libby indictment when harm was clearly implied in Fitzgerald's press conference.

AMEN! I won't vote for him, for sure, if this is the course he is going to follow for something "so nothing" as Valerie Plame!
Now if he votes to find out who leaked the NSA wiretap info, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat---but not for Plame!

Subtle slap at leakers in Congress and all those "unnamed officials" that get quoted in the NYT/WaPo, former or otherwise. What George Allen said is absolutely right, the daggone leaks have been outrageous. Note that Allen's satement does not apply to Libby, since the portions of the NIE were declassified.
If Fitzgerald has evidence that Libby leaked anything that is classified, he would charge him with that in a second. His court filings say "may have been classified", which is code language for "I'm doing everything I can to cause political damage without actually being able to charge someone with a crime".

"Cheney should be probed"?
So they ARE in favor of torture, then?
I'm confused; didn't they just pass a law against it?

I actually have a chance to NOT vote for him in 2006; for his re-election to the Senate.
Mr. Allen just sent me a letter asking for money. I'll think I will send it back with a little letter of my own.

5{ interview between Allen & Wallace closely... and it MIGHT have been a flub on his part. He was asked by Wallace to comment on the question Wallace gave to Reid... and it DID seem like he was agreeing with Reid.
It didn't look good at all.

I asked my Wife if he looked like presidential material and she just laughed. No to Allen in 06 or 08!

I don't think Allen is a RINO but this is getting ridiculous that many Republican's are Bashing this administration just to gain political points because they think it's poll popular. It's time they got back in line with the program and remember they ran as a Republican then and won so nothing has changed.
