I will vote for Rudy any day of the week. Times have changed! We need to elect someone because they can keep our Country safe from terrorism. I don't care if he has baggage..who doesn't! Find me a SNOW WHITE clean Politician. There aren't any! Rudy is the ONLY person who can beat Hillary. If it's between Hillary and Guiliani, I can't imagine anyone who cares about the safety of this country, and their family, staying home and giving their vote to Hillary! Guiliani will pull votes from Independents AND Democrats. Men will vote for him over Hillary. Lets not be so stuck on stupid that we hand Hillary the election!

I agree completely.

The President has important constitutional responsibilities - the national sex life is not among them.

If Rudy is the nominee I will stay home in 2008.

Right on. Find me a SNOW WHITE person.

And the last we need are religious bigots choosing the next President.

We need a tough guy in the WH. Rudy's the man. Although I think he'll be VEEP, then Prez.

I'm not worried about Hillary. I don't think she'll be the Dem. nominee. But if she is, she'll be lucky to win 3 states. Mark my words.

If its between Rudy and Hillary, I vote for Hillary. At least she won't shove gay marriage down our throats.

I'd rather live with terrorism and continue to carry my SIG P229 daily, than to give up my constitutional rights so I can FEEL safer. All Rudy did on 9/11 was go downtown and stand by while the real heroes went to work. Oh, and he scored some serious cash from the federal goobermint.

Supreme Court justices aren't getting any younger and Rudy may have a few appointments to make, if elected.

No way.

He will not make the primaries...

the point is moot.

He cant make the republican primaries in the red states.

His baggage is too much.

Times have not changed enough so as to take away my right to defend myself if the whole Muslim debackle turns into a shooting war at home...

We need a person tough on Radical Islam, not on Americans.

A Snow-White clean politician is one thing, but how can Rudy hope to get the Republican nomination as a pro-abortion gun-control-advocating candidate? Those two positions alone make him unelectable. It can't be McLaime either. Who does that leave? It remains to be seen....

Right. Perhaps in the upstate social utopia of new yawk, in the clean red conservative states both hillary and "rudy" are considered the equivalent of dog chow......lump mcinsane in that group also. Either get a conservative or watch 20 million or so of us sit on our hands.......

I know what you mean - my opposition to Rudy is due primarily to my belief that he cannot win broad and loyal Republican support, whether I like it or not. I just can't bring myself to tell a large portion of the Republican coalition that their deeply-held beliefs just aren't that important.

Maybe that's circular logic, I don't know. In my post above on this thread I lamented the fact that he didn't run in a NY statewide race in 2006. He would have been a shoo-in. There are MANY things I like about him.

It's early. Name recognition will be less of a factor as the process gets underway. Let's hope we can find someone who will enjoy broader support. If Rudy or McCain got the nomination, the MSM would turn on them immediately anyway. They are touted now in part because they are seen, to varying degrees, as troublesome to Bush.

IMHO.

Here is a wake up thought for you: Q Why are the 1.5 million Muslims in the United States not rioting in the streets over cartoons?

A: Because Americans are armed to the teeth.

I really don't care about SNOW WHITE.

He, or anyone else who seeks to disarm America is NOT POTUS material.

It is where he has stood on all the other issues as well which guarantees he will never get my vote.

We can find others who will fight the war on terror without hamstringing us at home.

As for pulling votes from the Democrats, the reason is obvious. He is running with their platform planks. As if we need two liberal moonbat parties. Sheesh!

...Rudy is the ONLY person who can beat Hillary.

Wrong on several fronts.

1. JulieAnnie's vanity and ego, not his prostate, caused him to retire from his potential run against HRC when he discovered he would lose just as badly as that hapless non-entity from LI.

2. He is unstable at the home table and the ethics bar.

3. He has less class than Pataki who has less charisma than a human hair.

Conservatives may have to bite their lips, but FWIW, moderate Rudy may be the only Republican who has a prayer to beat a Dem after two GOP terms in the White House. He's not my favorite, but I agree national security outweighs all else in the 21st Century.

I will never forgive myself for being gullible enough to vote for Perot on principle, and, like millions of other Americans, handed the presidency to Clinton.

Principle is ultra important, but the old adage in politics is: first, you have to get elected.

It is still possible for a more conservative candidate to emerge and win the Presidency, someone like a Pence or Pawlenty might be able to do it, and would be my preference. But in that case Rudy should be on the ticket as the VP, because we are going to need his crossover pull in swing states and may need to replace the loss of an Ohio, NV, or WV.

Count me as a Texas social conservative who will vote for Rudy in the general, and maybe even in the primary if he appears to be the only candidate with a real shot at winning at that time.

Don't let the foaming at the mouth hysterical kook types that spam these threads fool you, Rudy has far more support and chance at winning in many southern states than their rantings would suggest. I don't run into a whole lot of folks who are strongly against him, most are fairly open to his candidacy and have a generally good opinion about him. FR isn't at all representative of the Republican or even conservative voting population, because the ones that post the most often are a bit out there.

I will vote for Rudy any day of the week. Times have changed!

Several years ago I left the Presbyterian Church USA denomination because they're pro-choice and give their pastors abortion coverage in their medical insurance. I wouldn't be able to support a candidate for pres who's pro-choice.

Rudy might have good qualifications to fight the war, but why would he appoint pro-life judges to the Supreme Court when he's pro-choice and told Hannity he would not go against partial-birth abortion.

Many Republicans like me want a pro-life candidate for pres.

Rudy is the ONLY person who can beat Hillary.

This poll, showing McCain beating her in New England, the most liberal part of the country, would seem to indicate otherwise. Whether or not McCain is our nominee, it shows Hillary is far from invincible.

I would vasty prefer McCain to Rudy, BTW.
