Cheney cleared in hunting accident
White House faces questions about disclosing incident

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (CNN) -- Authorities have cleared Vice President Dick Cheney of wrongdoing in the Texas shooting of a hunting companion, while reporters aimed tough questions at White House officials about their delay in disclosing the accident.
During Tuesday's White House news conference, spokesman Scott McClellan was asked if waiting 14 hours after the shooting before Cheney spoke with police was appropriate, and whether an average citizen would have been afforded the same amount of time.
"That was what was arranged with the local law enforcement authorities," McClellan said. "You ought to ask them that question."
McClellan referred other questions about Cheney's shooting of campaign contributor Harry Whittington to the vice president's office and local police.

if this man dies from natural causes in the next 10 years, the media will say Cheney killed him. He is 78 years old, he is in good health, and he was peppered. The Doctor just yelled back at the reporters..... they said.. what if he gets an infection, will he die. The dr, yelled back and said.. WHAT IF? We will treat him if it is? NUTS GONE WILD.
Exactly ... I've always felt the least amount of time spent in a hospital as a patient the better ... lest you fall victim to some other malady.

Doctor: "Well what about it?! There's always a chance of infection! But the problem is is that we've got him covered from that standpoint... if an infection occurs guess what? We will treat it appropriately. But right now there's no evidence of that."

Yep - the press is beside themselves with glee hoping this man dies, so they can pin a death on Cheney. See post #25 - the doc at the hospital is onto them, and isn't taking it.
It is. Well, rather one of the bird-shot bbs lodged in the area of the heart, and the man experienced atrial fibrillation.
I have some questions about this incident:
Did Mr. Whittington save his shell riddled shirt so he could prove Cheney Shot him, if the need arose?
Does Mr. Cheney's Shotgun have distinguishing characteristics that Mr. Whittington can identify?
Did Mr. Cheney actually say, "I did not go hunting with that man... Mr. Whittington"
Is it true there's a list of men that claim Mr. Cheney shot them too?
Did Mr. Cheney really shoot Mr. Whittington if he was aiming for someting else?
What is the definition of Shooting, anyway?
Wasn't this just a private expedition between two consenting adults?
Isn't it time we all just moved on?

So many keep accusing Cheney, I think what they are trying to do is to cause Cheney to get a heart attack.
Now that Cheney has been cleared, I hope the Republicans will tell everyone to shut up.
It's too bad about the other guy, but it was an accident.
A pellet has moved closer to heart; but apparently poses no danger. . .they will not do anything. . .
. . .meantime; if this man has been watching the coverage of the story; I would venture that it was that. . .which caused his heart papiltations. . .and not the pellet - since they say it poses no threat and they do not intend to move it. . .
I have been worried about precisely that. . .the media will 'kill' this guy - one way or another; determined as they are to make this a fatal mistake. . .
