It is definitely Bin Laden. I have seen the videotape and it is definitely him. It contains very clear views of Bin Laden and is without a doubt Bin Laden.

I noticed that as well. It appears as though they took one odd looking frame out of all the footage and said, "See, not him!", while ignoring the rest of the tape.

Yes, it is a long videotape of Bin Laden visiting with some Saudi sheik in Afghanistan not long after 9-11. It goes on for about 20 minutes if I remember right. It has many close up shots of Bin Laden as well as many from a few feet away. There is no denying it's him, and I don't think they'd risk putting out such a long videotape with such close up views if it wasn't.

Don't worry about it, it's not an issue. I post articles from the left, Capital Times is a classic, as well as many from the Arab press which are far worse than this. The Times are among the most entertaing though, what the NY and LA Times would like to say, but won't. I get lots of responsed to articles, and don't answer most since in fact they're generally directed to the author, not me. I don't remember yours, but if it was simply a why did you post this, I probably would have passed on it due to time constraints anyway.

BTW, I simply don't use barf alerts and such.

Thanks S, I'm glad to know a little more about you and how you operate. That will certainly help me and others to avoid any misunderstanding or misjudgments in the future. I understand some people like to post the lunacy pieces to keep us all apprised of what the other side is "thinking," but I guess I was accustomed to some sort of disclaimer attached. So, you are claiming to be an Arabist? You have a PHD in African languages with a concentration on Arabic. So, my guess is you most likely speak a 5 arabic on a scale of 1 to 10.
