SYRACUSE, N.Y. They shaved their heads to support a co-worker with cancer.
Now that decision by five white deputies in Syracuse has escalated into a federal race-discrimination dispute.
The white deputies at the Onondaga County jail's transport division claim black deputies accused them of being members of a racist skinhead organization. The white employees have complained to their bosses and to the U-S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that the skinhead comments created a hostile work environment.
The federal agency said their complaints were unfounded, based on the results of a sheriff's office investigation.
But another look at the original investigation found the first probe was incomplete because the deputies' supervisor never interviewed any of the white deputies, even though he claimed he had done so.
The supervisor, who is white, has been suspended without pay after being accused by the sheriff's office of failing to uphold his duties.
Intra-department race card played.
Stupid white people, just shut up and pay your taxes.
Silly deputies, black men can't be racists!..........or haven't you heard?......

The deputy's here did the same thing when one of their department got cancer, Of Course the black members of the department here must be a little smarter than this bunch, there was no such problem here.
These guys should know that white people have no recourse when accused of racism , That only works for blacks. you are not going to get any federal agency to stand up for white people.
I shaved my head because I was losing my hair. No more, no less.
I guess I'm in trouble. Although my head is shaved, it's not by choice. I may be a skin head, but it's God's doing, not mine.
Absolutely!!!
This kind of bugs me because I wear my hair VERY short. When I used to have a goatee, I would get some pretty hard looks, even though the black guys giving me the looks had the same haircut and goatee. I don't get it.
These kind of petty events are what tend to make race relations worse. People take offense if they consider something not to be PC.
Has the supervisor called Jesse Jackson yet?
I calmly replied that if he followed through, I would request a Courts Marshall and demand that every black sailor on the base be brought up on similar charges.
The matter was dropped.

I did something similar when radio talk show host Laura Ingraham underwent chemo therapy and I was shocked at the closed minded and accusatory comments my many of my co-workers. "Nazi" and "F- you, racist pig" insults were hurled at me in the halls and breakroom by people who'd mistakenly put feelings in my heart and words in my mouth. In fact, I was called into Human Resources and told that I had to work from home and take steps to change my appearance or I'd be relieved of my position.
The director of H.R. said it had more to do with the "Supremacy Is The White Man's Burden" tattoo on my forehead, but I know it was really my haircut.
Owl_Eagle(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
There is a country song where a high school girl is on chemo and her hair drops out on the morning of her prom. Her date shows up with his head shaved.
If these officers were doing the same thing, the officers who complained may need to be demoted or fired. To show solidarity with a person who is very ill is a wonderful thing and should always be supported, if at all practical.
We all had to shave our heads in the police academy. Black/white/brown we all had the same haircut. I've since kept the look for over four years and never had any issues with black coworkers.
Reminds me of that tennis player and his sister.
I hear you. A very good friend of mine who is Hispanic and I have experienced the same thing. If you're really good friends, you both look beyond such pettiness.
