NH: More Free Staters arrested in spat with Feds

Interested to get the Freeper take on this:

Manchester, New Hampshire Feb. 14, 2006

Two New Hampshire Free Staters chose arrest last week rather than allow themselves to be herded into a "Free Speech Zone" while the President was in Manchester. One of the protesters was carrying a sign advocating New Hampshire secession, both were in a non-secure area where civilians were milling around unmolested.

Manchester Union Leader article (link is split into two lines): http://www.unionleader.com/article.aspx?headline=Two+arrested+as +protesters+gather&articleId=ff16795b-bd46-4bc7-bc0d-619d8f8946fc

Free Staters (www.FreeStateProject.org) are libertarian activists who move to New Hampshire from other parts of the country because they consider it the state with the most freedom. About 150 have moved here since 2003, with 7,000 more pledged to follow. So far Federal and Local officials have made a total of nine arrests in response to civil disobedience by Free Staters.

"About 150 have moved here since 2003..."

Wow! At this rate they will actually succeed in making themselves politically viable somewhere by the year 2152.

My take is that the C---y Al-Sheehan type of protesters are there to disrupt and prevent events from taking place, not to protest, so the solution was these free speech zones. Not a good solution, but when you have anti-freedom, anti-Constitution and anti-United States thugs on one side , not much else you can do.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, except for Christainity within the states designated as blue states; or abridging the freedom of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble in designated FREE SPEECH ZONES, upon first being granted the privelidge to assemble by their masters, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances when the government chooses to allow it.

I don't think they are seccessionists, just want to transform the State government into a Libertarian one.

We need to trade New England for Alberta. It will be a win-win for everyone. It will ensure the Liberals win in Canada. We get the good people of Alberta (and its oil) and we rid ourselves of Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

You might want to find another way to get media attention.

Well, we want to keep Upstate NY, and just give away the City and Long Island as part of the exchange. New Jersey might be salvageable.

We should also take Manitoba, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and the Yukon.

My proposal is to draw the line at the Hudson River. Everything east of there goes to Canada. If they complain, we'll make them take Detroit as well. We'll take all of Canada in the central and mountain time zones.

I think just cutting off the part north of Elizabeth and east of Paterson would do it.

They've had 'free speech zones' like this in the Great Smokies for years, so pro-freedom, pro-Constitution, pro-US 'thugs' could protest the United Nations Biosphere program which had overtaken the park.
