Conclusions:
1) No one should have been surprised
2) Katrina wasn't that big (and we should expect more like it)
3) Floodwalls were properly built
4) Anarchy didn't take over
5) Evacuation plans worked
6) Government responded quickly
7) Government subsidies encoured bad land use
8) Energy infrastructure survived

The M$M hype was wrong. Polticians lied and overstated the problem. What else is new? Great article. Offers several constructive ideas for the future in terms of zoning/planning, construction technique, reclamation practices, etc.

Glad you liked the article. My sense was that the media failed completely on this one. It covered up the political failures in NO and LA in an attempt to turn FEMA into a first responder. Too much hyperbole and not enough facts.

GREAT article. I wonder why Nagin's quotes kept appearing under the
Myth heading ???
Well worth the read.

Every Senator and Congresscritter should read this Popular Mechanics article. Those floodgates not allowed by environmentalists could have saved a lot of lives and property.

Simple. The lesson I learned was that big government can do no wrong when there is a Democrat Administration, but it stinks to high heaven when there is a Republican Administration.
