Anyone who gets miffed at this is living in denial. Family money is family money, it should not go to ex-spouses if your kid gets a divorce.

I am in total agreement. I don't care if it's family money or money made in one's own lifetime ...

amily money is family money, it should not go to ex-spouses if your kid gets a divorce. If that "ex-spouse" is the mother/father of your grandchildren, you might want to reconsider that comment.

I agree with your viewpoint.
Being originally from Indiana, getting married and living there requires a good prenup. There, all property is considered dividable ! This includes inheritance, property attained prior to marriage, everything ! Prenup changes the rules.
A guy who worked for my Dad in the late 1980's got married and was divorced less than a year later. She was an accountant for one of the big Indianapolis firms, he was a college student. She also whored on him as well. When the divorce was finalized, he had to pay her attorney fees, pay her maintenance. To add insult to injury, she got all of his material possessions except the shirt off his back and his truck since his parents owned it, she tried to get that.
