DFU SONG: Stayin' Alive (liberals are going nuts because Whittington hasn't died yet)
DFU SONGS | 2-2006 | Lyrics, Doug from Upland

Posted on 02/15/2006 7:09:24 PM PST by doug from upland

MIDI - STAYIN' ALIVE

Well, see that look that is in reporters' eyes...they are hoping that he soon will die
If Whittington should breathe no more...they will all be thrilled down to the core
For now he's all right, he's all right...but they are checking day and night
If on his screen there's no more blip...the liberals are all gonna flip

For his death they're praying, they want no more delaying
But he's staying alive, Harry's alive
They all want the story and want it to be gory
But he's staying alive, Harry's alive
Ah ha ha ha....stayin' alive...Harry's alive
Ah ha ha ha...Harry's ali-i-i-i-i-i-ive...he's still alive

We all know they hate Cheney so very much...all these reporters are so out of touch
Gregory looks like an utter fool...Scott should skewer him in a real duel
For now he's all right, he's all right...but they are checking day and night
If on his screen there's no more blip...the liberals are all gonna flip

For his death they're praying, they want no more delaying
But he's staying alive, Harry's alive
They all want the story and want it to be gory
But he's staying alive, Harry's alive
Ah ha ha ha....stayin' alive...Harry's alive
Ah ha ha ha...Harry's ali-i-i-i-i-i-ive...still alive

They want manslaughter...Cheney manslaughter...they really want it bad
They want him nailed now...they think they've got him now...they're all going mad

Well, you can tell by their feeding frenzy play...they will not let this thing go away
Foaming mouths in liberal land...they are believing Cheney will be canned
For now he's all right, he's all right...but they are checking day and night
If on his screen there's no more blip...the liberals are all gonna flip

For his death they're praying, they want no more delaying
But he's staying alive, Harry's alive
They all want the story and want it to be gory
But he's staying alive, Harry's alive
Ah ha ha ha....stayin' alive...Harry's alive
Ah ha ha ha...Harry's ali-i-i-i-i-i-ive...alive

They want manslaughter...Cheney manslaughter...they really want it bad
They want him nailed now...they think they've got him now...they're all going mad

They want manslaughter...Cheney manslaughter...they really want it bad
They want him nailed now...they think they've got him now...they're all going mad

They want manslaughter...Cheney manslaughter...they really want it bad
They want him nailed now...they think they've got him now...they're all going mad

They want manslaughter...Cheney manslaughter...they really want it bad
They want him nailed now...they think they've got him now...they're all going mad

Brilliant Doug, and yes, I'm a former disco queen. Saturday Night Live is still one of my favorite movies.

Mr Whittington is 78 and likely would have died of natural causes in the next 10 years. I predict the press will keep close track of him and when he does pass the question of Dick Cheney's culpability will be revisited.

Man Shot by Cheney Leaving Hospital
AP ^ | LYNN BREZOSKY

Posted on 02/17/2006 11:33:55 AM PST by 300magnum

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The lawyer shot by Vice President Dick Cheney during a hunting trip was being discharged from a hospital Friday and told reporters he was deeply sorry for all the trouble Cheney had faced over the past week.

Cheney, speaking to the Wyoming Legislature on Friday, also alluded to the shooting as he thanked lawmakers for their half-minute standing ovation, saying the warm greeting was especially welcome "when you've had a very long week."

"Thankfully, Harry Whittington is on the mend and doing well," Cheney said.

In Texas, Whittington wore a suit and tie as he gave his brief statement outside the hospital. His voice was a bit raspy, but strong, and he had what appeared to be a line of cuts on his upper right eyelid and scrapes on his neck.

"We all assume certain risks in what we do, in what activities we pursue," the 78-year-old Austin attorney said. "Accidents do and will happen."

Whittington was hit in the face, neck and chest with birdshot Saturday during a hunting trip at a South Texas ranch. He had been listed in stable condition in a Corpus Christi hospital since suffering a mild heart attack Tuesday after a shotgun pellet traveled to his heart.

Cheney took full blame for the shooting in an interview Wednesday with Fox News, his first public comments on what happened that day.

"I'm the guy who pulled the trigger and shot my friend," Cheney said in the interview. He said it was "one of the worst days of my life."

Dr. David Blanchard, chief of emergency care at Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial, said Whittington will go home Friday because of "his excellent health," but Blanchard added that "he is not 100 percent."

During his statement, Whittington said the past weekend involved "a cloud of misfortune and sadness that is not easy to explain, especially with those who are not familiar with the great sport of quail hunting."

He said he sent his love and respect to Cheney and his family.

"My family and I are deeply sorry for everything Vice President Cheney and his family have had to deal with," he said. "We hope that he will continue to come and seek the relaxation that he deserves."

The Kenedy County Sheriff's Department closed its investigation of the shooting on Thursday without filing any charges. The department released an incident report that supported accounts from the ranch owner and Cheney.

Cheney told an investigator that he did not see Whittington while aiming for a bird. Whittington "explained foremost there was no alcohol during the hunt and everyone was wearing the proper hunting attire of blaze orange," Chief Deputy Gilberto San Miguel Jr. wrote.

Harry Whittington's hospital statement
Man shot by Vice President Cheney says accidents happen
NBC VIDEO

'Accidents...happen'
Feb. 17: Harry Whittington, the 78-year-old Texas Lawyer shot by Vice President Dick Cheney, says the event brought a ”cloud of misfortune and sadness.”
MSNBC

Harry Whittington, the man shot by Vice President Dick Cheney last weekend, spoke to reporters as he was released from Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. He did not take questions. Here is a transcript of his statement.

Good Afternoon.

All of you in the media have been very patient in waiting for me to make my appearance here. I hope you understand. I’m sorry I delayed you, but I know your role is to get the news out to the public. I compliment you on what you’ve done. I’ve read and seen many of your reports and I know your job isn’t easy. I regret that I couldn’t have been here earlier so you could see what a lucky person I am.

For many years my family has been friends with the Armstrongs down in Kenedy County. We have visited with them for over 25 years and have had some wonderful trips and visits – pleasant memories that we cherish forever. However, this past weekend encompassed all of us in a cloud of misfortune and sadness that is not easy to explain – especially to those who are not familiar with the great sport of quail hunting.

We all assume certain risks in whatever we do, whatever activities we pursue. And regardless of how experienced, careful and dedicated we are, accidents do and will happen – and thatÂ’s what happened last Friday.

I am very grateful and want to thank all the people that remembered me in their prayers and the kindness you have extend to my family that’s been here this week.

My family and I are deeply sorry for all that vice president Cheney has had to go through this past week. We send our love and respect to them as they deal with situations that are much more serious than what we’ve had this week. And we hope that he will continue to come to Texas and seek the relaxation that he deserves.

I also thank all of you for understanding the best you can that medical attention was very important to someone my age. And you haven’t failed to give my age.

Finally, I want to say there’re simply not adequate words to express my gratitude and appreciation to the very talented physicians, medical staff, nurses, of this great Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital system, here in Corpus Christi and in Kingsville. They’ve given me exceptional treatment, care and compassion for which I’m very grateful. They are truly remarkable servants of God and I’m extremely blessed for all they’ve done.

Thank you.

Thanks, DFU. Y'know, I haven't heard of "Janie's got a gun," either. Guess the obvious title would be "Cheney's got a gun."
