Seriously, Mr. Cheney's failure to inform the press just makes me respect him more. He is the best V.P. in my lifetime, and fortunately, President Bush seems to realize what an asset he is.

I really haven't figured out how Peggy Noonan has seemed to lost perspective of that. Too much time inside the beltway.

Yes, I'm afraid so. My response to much of her recent writing has been, "What planet are YOU on, honey?"

She's an outstanding writer, and, I suppose, a fine person, but she doesn't seem to be paying attention to the real world these days ... or even paying much attention to "inside the beltway," if she thinks being Vice President is going to make someone other than Dick Cheney a successful Presidential candidate in 2008. Remember Al Gore, Peggy?
