MORE SNOWBOARDING!!!!
Snowboarding - Women: World champion Lindsey Jacobellis looks to make history by winning the first ever gold medal in snowboard cross."
She had the medal in the bag...but lost it when she tried to * Ham it up* for the crowd.
That cross snowboarding looks like a lot of fun.
YEEE and HAAAA!!!!
Daytona 500 this week-end...if ya need a break from tape delayed. :)
Okay, we all kind of got hooked on the snowboarding last night!
As somebody said, it's an actualy RACE!
BigSky is keeping a running count; maybe we can get him to post it here -- if he's up yet!
Seems all our gold is coming from the snowboarding events.
Feel free to flame me, but there is alot of crunch-time gagging going on w/ the Americans in these games. That Apolo guy fell in one of his qualifiers, Bode Miller has flat out choked. Even in curling, I saw both the mens and womens rock throwers(?), flop on the last critical throw.
Wescott was so smooth,, you can sure tell who the surfers are.
Snowboard Cross is now my favorite winter olympic event. Last night's race was great. I'm also impressed by the calibre of the snowboard teams...they're the antithesis of Bode Miller and Johnny Weir and the other ego maniacs out there.
If it wasn't for all of the Winter X-Games events they've added, the US would hardly have any medals.
You're exactly right; and NBC isn't spending enough time "teaching" us "oldsters" how these "games" are played.
Everybody is in an uproar because Wescott said that snowboarding is the heart and soul of the Olympics; I wave that bravado off as youth, but he does have a point.
Where is the LUST in the other sports?
And as an added element, snow is MUCH prettier than MUD!
Amen to that...and even so it's still a heart pumping spectacle to watch. I don't think there was a single heat last night where all 4 boarders made it all the way down the hill! Loved it!
Women's curling has a lot of good-looking young women.
And somebody tell Bryant Gumball that the Russian women's curling team has a black chick on it.
I admire the biathlete and cross country skiers most, those are some tough folks and train long and hard to reach the Olympics.
The board sports are a lot easier to cover. The competitors are literally pros as they board all year round. It's turning into the Olympics X-games, little by little.
>>Snowboard Cross is now my favorite winter olympic event<<
Mine too!
Now if they can shoot a rifle while snowboarding, I would pay to watch that.
I noticed that this morning. I would guess that she's not African-American: more likely is that she's from far eastern Russia, where the people have some Mongol and Hun bloodlines. (And I could easily be wrong on this.)
I swear I thought I saw some footage of them doing something like that in Alaska!
Did you know about this?
Is this thread for Friday? Because that's not what the title says.
USA network has barely broadcast anything else but curling. Curling all week. Curling, curling, curling.
Yet, after hours of curling broadcasts, in the final 'end' of the US women vs Russia women, score tied, they cut to women's hockey.
[US curling team lost by 1]
Whoops...........I'll ask that it be changed.
Current Medal Totals:
NOR 13
GER 11
RUS 11
USA 10
CAN 9
AUT 6
CHN 6
Fourth place won't cut it. C'mon, American boys and girls, kick some butt! If Canada overtakes us, we'll never live it down.
womens combined on now live audio http://www.eurosport.com/

HOTDOG!!!....lmao
pathetic.
I don't know why she is smiling for being an idiot. The announcers said it might have been subconsious to keep her balance (hotdog posing to keep her balance at the end-which failed)
too funny...
Did you see that Canadian fly in the netting?...she was taking the lead on that Swissmiss....Maybe a silver?...maybe a gold???...bronze!, ...oh well.
That finish is going to go up there with Jean Van De Velde's collapse at the British Open--the poster child for the 'agony of defeat.' lol!
Is it just me, or does Johnny qWeir remind anybody else of Edward Scissor Skates. Is it his Johnny Depp patriotism, Johnny Depp look , or just his topiary desire to cut the Bushes down to size?
What's up with the US Women's team? Tied with Sweden!
Skiing is out...Snowboarding is in.
I saw the interview with him where he was wearing that CCCP sweatshirt and I wanted to reach through the screen and smack the sh*t out of him. I think that stunt should have gotten him thrown off the team.
And to answer your question...yes the pooft does remind me of Johnny Depp/Scissorhands too...but I think that's affected.
USA vs SWE shootout!
Still tied in overtime. (The U.S. just failed to capitalize on a power play). Good game. That Swedish goalie is coming up huge time and again.
This may be the worst shootout ever lol
Will anyone score? Amazing.
Finally Sweden scores
Uh Oh. .....Sweden just did.
Wow Sweden scores and wins the game. Biggest upset of the tourney so far by far
My guess is Team USA will come out firing in the Bronze medal game and win it easily to make up for this loss.
This is good news for Team Canada. Barring any mess-up we'll meet Sweden in the finals and have a better chance of grabbing gold than if we had to play team USA
Huge disappointment for Team USA, but they ran into a goalie on fire. What were the final shots on goal stats in this game?
39-17
>>This is good news for Team Canada.
In some ways it is good news for women's hockey. Earlier in the week I saw an interview with some of the US women where they were worried that their sport would be cut from the Olympics, like baseball and softball.
Since the USA lost, I'll root for Canada to win gold in Women's hockey. But I hope we get the Bronze.

I don't follow snowboarding. Is this what is meant by 'hotdogging?'
