You're not alone. I too, had no idea of what was happening. I didn't know who was who or understand any part of the conflict. I don't remember any anti-war groups speaking out against the bombing, or perhaps I missed it. Was General Wesley Clark in charge of Nato then?

There were far left speaking out. I went to a couple rallies and talked to them, they were the free-mumia leftists. Tom Fleming (Chronicles Magazine) spoke at one of the rallies and got hissed for speaking from the right but a bit of tepid applause when he spoke against the administration and the bombing.
Clark was in charge of NATO at that point, took what was a viable peacekeeping organization and turned it into an aggressive special interest tool. The ironic effect was to diminish NATO's power and America's influence.
Oh yes, that was the apex of General Weasley Clark's career.
