Rs 51-crore reward for Danish cartoonist’s head, says UP Minister ($10 million, India)
Indian Express ^ | 2/16/06 | MV Rao

LUCKNOW, MEERUT, FEBRUARY 17: The Minister for Minority Welfare and Haj in the Mulayam Singh Yadav government, Haji Yaqoob Qureishi, has announced a cash reward of Rs 51 crore for anyone who beheads the Danish cartoonist who caricatured Prophet Mohammad.

While the state government has defended the Minister’s remark as the “voice of someone whose religious sentiments have been hurt,” a senior member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has slammed it calling the reward “anti-Islamic and anti-humanity.”

Speaking to The Indian Express, Qureishi defended his announcement saying it was a “concerted decision” and the killing of a person who blasphemed Islam was “justified.”

Addressing a gathering at the Faiz-e-Azam College in Meerut after Friday prayers today, Qureishi announced the reward and urged Muslims to show “proof” of being himayat-e-Islami by joining in the protest.

Taking the cue, several shopkeepers downed shutters with speakers demanding an apology from the Danish government. They also demanded that New Delhi snap diplomatic ties with Denmark.

When contacted, UP Principal Secretary, Home, Alok Sinha told The Indian Express: “The minister’s reaction was the voice of someone whose religious sentiments have been hurt. Moreover, since the reference was to a person who is far off, there is no question of an FIR being lodged against the minister.”

However, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board member and Naib Imam of Aishbagh Idgah, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, criticised the Minister’s call for the killing of the cartoonist.

“The Minister’s statement is anti-Shariat, anti-Islam and anti-humanity,” Mahali said. “The western media is already up against Islam, the minister’s statement will only add fuel to the fire.” The Prophet believed in pardoning others for “sins committed by them,” the Maulana said, “Who are we to issue such irresponsible statements?”

I saw it. There has been talk of getting this person arrested for inciting murder. The section of the Indian Penal Code which allows for this is as follows:

http://www.indialawinfo.com/bareacts/ipc.html

Section 504. Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace:

Whoever intentionally insults, and thereby gives provocation to any person, intending or knowing it to be likely that such provocation will cause him to break the public peace, or to commit any other. offence, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.

Behead Danish cartoonist, get Rs 51 crore, says UP minister

Lucknow, February 17
Adding a new dimension to the anti-Denmark protests, an Uttar Pradesh minister today declared a cash reward of Rs 51 crore for the person who would behead the Danish cartoonist who drew the controversial cartoons of Prophet Mohammad.

Minister for Minority Affairs and Haj, Haji Mohammad Yaqoob speaking at a massive public rally, organised at the Faizan Inter College in his constituency Meerut, made the declaration on behalf of the people of the city. The person who did the deed would also be weighed in gold, said the minister.

Urging the Centre to break off diplomatic relations with Denmark, Haji Yaqoob did not even spare the US for its reported connivance in spearheading a worldwide anti-Islam campaign.

Strongly condemning the minister’s statement, a member of the All-India Muslim Personal Board and Naib Imam of the Eidgah Masjid Maulana Khalid Rashid said the statement was anti-Islamic as it was against the basic teaching of Islam.

Lodging his protest against Haji Yaqoob’s statement, Maulana Khalid Rashid asserted that the statement reportedly made on behalf of the people was unfair to the Muslims of Meerut as it projected them as a bunch of intolerant fanatics baying for blood.

According to Home Secretary Alok Sinha, the statement was not a violation of any law and did not demand any action against the minister. This is a very sensitive matter and he was expressing the peoples’ sentiment, Sinha said.

Meanwhile, there was widespread protest demonstrations against the cartoons in several districts, including Bulandshahr, Mau, Etah, Jaunpur, Bahraich, Muzzafarnagar and Meerut.

Rs 51-cr toon bounty sparks row

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1419344.cms

LUCKNOW: In a shocking demand, UP cabinet minister and senior Samajwadi Party leader Mohammed Yaqoob Qureshi on Friday called for the beheading of the cartoonist who had sketched Prophet Mohammed for a Danish newspaper and announced that he would give "the avenger" Rs 51 crore and weigh him in gold.

And pre-empting the question about where he’d get the money, the minister for Haj told a protest rally in Meerut that the money would be collected from the people of Meerut and that Muslim women were ready to sell their gold ornaments to "reward" any would-be assassin.

Yaqoob’s public statement sent ripples through Lucknow and Samajwadi Party as well as Muslim leaders moved to distance themselves from it. But the state government refused to say whether it planned any action for what was clearly an invitation for a contract killing in a foreign land. Muslim leaders in Lucknow said Yaqoob’s appeared to be cheap gimmick.

Strangely, chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was not ready to comment on Yaqoob’s outrageous demand, and Samajwadi Party was cautious not to be seen as dismissive of Yaqoob. Party leaders, speaking off the record, said the minister was probably just responding to a charged atmosphere. SP general secretary Amar Singh said, "I would exercise my restraint in giving any reaction because it may have far-reaching implications."

Addressing a crowd of over 25,000 that had gathered at Meerut’s Sadar Ground after Friday prayers to protest against portrayal of the Prophet in Danish cartoons, a visibly excited Yaqoob declared that whosoever would get him the head of the Danish cartoonist would be rewarded.

"Whosoever it is, be it a Pakistani, an Iraqi or an American," Yaqoob said. A moment later he added, "The money will be paid by the people of Meerut."

here's a few you shose not to put in red:

"According to Home Secretary Alok Sinha, the statement was not a violation of any law and did not demand any action against the minister. This is a very sensitive matter and he was expressing the peoples’ sentiment, Sinha said."

interesting...the Hindu minister thinks that bounties against the Danish cartoonist are just hunky-dory.

"Meanwhile, there was widespread protest demonstrations against the cartoons in several districts, including Bulandshahr, Mau, Etah, Jaunpur, Bahraich, Muzzafarnagar and Meerut."

Just like in Paki, Libya, Iran, etc.

25,000? that's more than in some Muslim countries.

""Whosoever it is, be it a Pakistani, an Iraqi or an American," Yaqoob said. A moment later he added, "The money will be paid by the people of Meerut.""

Im sure the good citizens of Meerut will be glad to pay.

Relax. The ppl working outsourced US jobs aren't anything like these semi-literate muzlim college grads. They're from mainstream, cosmopolitical colleges. One reason why muzlims suck at education in India is that 'minorities' are allowed to open and rum their own edu institutions w/o regard to state and central laws, guidelines and standards. Result? Most of these minority edu cesspools have no guidelines and standards and their grads aren't fit to pee in the sea. So, have no worries about indirectly subsidizing Indian jihadists with outsource money. Instead lobby state to cut aid to Pakistan, that'll help much more.

Saying that won't move them out of there. Muslims are in Europe forever. There is nothing that can be done about it now. Sad, but Europe should have thought about it when it started letting them in AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, MADE SURE THEY DON"T INTEGRATE, BY ALLOWING THEM A GOOD SHARE OF DHIMMITUDE.

Even second gen immigrants who're born in Europe? Do-able methinks but risky. Citizenship will then be decided on the basis of race? I'd rather have religion as the sole criterion. Deport all muslims, citizen or not. The problem isi what if North africa ain't willing to take them back? India faces a problem with 50 million Bangladeshi illegals in India who B'desh claims are not its citizens. Well, now what?

I seem to delight in the fall of Europe? Hell, no. Europe did everything ON ITS OWN to ensure its fall. No help from any outsider needed, whatsoever.

It's not impossible or even hard, if you have the resolve. Simple. After Europe gets out of it's multiculturalist malaise, they will realize that their cultures are being diluted and round up the Muslims and deport them. So the Muslims will riot. They will be crushed. Can you say "live ammunition?"

Scandinavian blogger Fjordman predicts that Europe will soon face civil war and the continent will divide into two zones - a muzlim one and a civilized one (separated by an Israelii style barrier, maybe?). Already looking at demographic trends, there are swathes the muzlims seem to have earmarked already in advance. Well, since the EU has been subsizing the PA etc so long, the whole continent now risks becoming an Israel itself....

Umm, ships? sadly, if they cannot be deported, then the only alternative would be to eliminate them using force.

"Face it. Europe's lost. "

Once again you seem overjoyed with this, eager beaver. Europe has not lost, and they will one day wake up. If we (the US) need to help them deal with the muslim infestation then we will.

"Some of the politicians of Europe are Muslim, who were voted into power. What will you do about them? And their supporters?"

Deport them all. A real European cannot be Muslim, except in the mind of liberals.

I agree with Fjordman that there will be a civil war, except I do not believe Europe will be divided. The Muslims will be either deported from Europe or exterminated before the Muslims again gain European territory for their own.

By the way, this Fjordman blog sounds interesting...do you know the URL of his site? Thanks :)
