Skip to comments.David Gregory, Unplugged (Gregory afraid to be interviewed about his tantrums)

" [T]he debate playing out in the blogosphere, cable airwaves and on talk radio pits the Vice President against an allegedly left-wing, overly cynical, prissy White House press corps in a tizzy because it wasn't the first to know and angry because it hates the President and Vice President anyway. "
That's exactly right. And it comes from NBC's David Gregory.
Gregory goes on to announce that this description is "nonsense," but of course Gregory has not allowed himself to be questioned outside of his network. He doesn't return calls and he won't make himself available for questions about what appears to be his deep seated hostility for the vice president and the Administration.
A professional would have calmly assenbled the facts and asked specific questions from McClellan. Gregory's overheated demands to know the president's "feelings" about the incident revealed a great deal about Gregory's bias and his talents. Soxblog suggested in his 2/15 post that those who know Gregory say he is wrongly judged on his meltdown this week, but unless and until Gregory is as willing to answer questions as he is to pose them, we can assume that what we saw is what he is.
Gregory is now caught up in controversy and he's both stonewalling and trying to change the subject.
Feel free to leave a comment for Gregory on his blog.
Poor widdle Davey. Afraid to come out and play?
I have e-mailed NBC three times this week to fire him.
He is obviously thinks he is more important than the Administration. His lack of respect for the Office of the President is over the top. I would revoke his Press Pass in a microsecond.
Right thows a self important pompous grandinging play then run around crying "It's not about me" What a complete loser is Dip Grandstander
He will never again be taken seriously and that is GOOD.
Drama queen and a nasty one at that.
"I have e-mailed NBC three times this week to fire him."
Pls post the addy so we all can join the chorus, g.
I read the "I was just doing my job" article by that whiner Gregory, followed by readers' comments, most of which were fawning over him: "Oh, you're the greatest journalist EVER!" "Oh, you just have to keep asking these hard questions or we'll never know ANYTHING!" "Oh, you're just wonderful!" Clearly, a case of Stupid and his fans, Stupider.
Gregory is such a...... (well you know)...
Close. We've always called him Ape Face here at home...lol.
WHY WON'T HE FACE US?
It's not the tantrum, it's the cover up.
This is hilarious. We won't see him interviewed by anyone on the matter either.
I was taken aback by his arrogance, and I find it illuminating that Mr. Gregory has no sense of himself or is peer group. MSM's fate seems intertwined with that of the Democratic Party, and that is to say it is in a tailspin. My only hope is that they both do some soulsearching whether by critical reflective aknowledgement of thier tepid state or merely a market response to become relevant again.
"For NBC news, I'm a Tucker Carlson wannabe"
It's not the tantrum, it's the cover up.
If NBC ever did fire him, he'd be hired quickly at CNN...
Its not his lack of respect for the Office of President. Its his contempt for Bush and all things Republican that got him into this. His is intellectual elitism at its finest as the rest of us are just dumb schmucks.
Does NBC news ever give anyone a fair shake?
It's real news.
"He doesn't return calls and he won't make himself available for questions..."
How dare this be said about Vice President Chaney...oops, sorry, this is about David Gregory. Hmmmmm!
David's favorite Olympic athlete mailed in his final skate.
On the Crissy Mathews show yesterday DG took a clip from President Bush's speech and inferred he was talking about the VP. It was completely out of context.
What a POS!
CNN already has a premature-grey-haired poser, but I forget his name.
They have a history.
A press secretary with a taste for blood sport could have him chewing the carpet and howling on camera inside a week.
From Gregory's blog: "I see myself as a proxy for the public that has raised questions about what happened and why the Vice President did not immediately disclose it."
Translated: He means he is only going to print what reflects the view of the dimocrat party and his personal view of what that "view" should be.
Weel, he is loathe to admit that Bush is the elected leader of the Free World and this happens when the reporter wants to be the star of the show instead of simply reporting the facts as he knows them as a news story.
There are NO facts that justify Gregory's tantrum.
He does look like he escaped from the set of The Planet of the Apes.
Fiddlesticks. When I used to listen to Imus in the Morning there was more than sufficent revelation of Gregory's character: he is the son of a Broadway producer who is a fairly good impersonator and a very shallow mind. He is a silly foolish boy --aeterna puer--type who is catty and feminine. This last part was revealed to the nation this past week as he "made it about himself" and his sense of personal deprivation. He is of no interest, really, other than the fact that he happens to be of the type that the networks like to groom for advancemet due a a certain telegenic quality. That means that he might appeal to TV consumers because he is so shallow and boyish.
If I remember correctly, Ronald Regan had Peter Jennings tossed out of press conferences.
LOL -- I went to his blog to read the comments to him, even though I hated giving it a hit.
Here is my reply to Mr. Gregory on his weblog:
I can certainly understand the vehemence with which you deny any bias or ulterior motive behind the hissy fit that you threw during that session with Scott McClellan. You are understandably sensitive to those allegations, given the shameless manner with which you have conducted yourself during every opportunity to be seen on camera "grilling" the President or someone in his administration.
That said, what other conclusion is a reasonable viewer to reach after considering the slant of all of the questions that you ask representatives of this administration? The fact that you deny that you are a "left-wing, overly cynical, prissy White House press corps [reporter who] hates the President and Vice President anyway" does not make that characterization any less accurate.
Perhaps you should find some other venue in which to vociferously campaign for a job on the Today Show, in order to better showcase your virulent views without offending those people who believe that the job of a journalist is to report the news and not slant or create it.
Because I realize that this message will never be posted on your weblog, I've also posted it on freerepublic.com.
David Gregory, I demand you answer our questions! (arms folded, foot tapping)
WE DESERVRE ANWSERS !
FOTFLOL! I love that! I'm proud of you and still giggling.
