If Lou Dobbs covered Able Danger last week it was more then I saw on Fox -- of course I couldn't abide H&C last week, Colmes is getting more unglued by the day, but O'Reilly certainly ignored it and I didn't see anything memorable on Brit Hume about it, either and I think I watched each day.

I can testify to that from a UK point of view and in slightly different circumstances but does show that checks are being made at all ports. I work for a manufacturer, we have a joint venture company in China, I was sending them some gearboxes to assemble into machines they are making for us.

They were loaded into a container with a lot of other equipment from other exporters and twice it missed a vessel finally I was advised that customs and the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) had ceased the container. This was because someone was sending protective clothing to China which seemed strange as normal protective clothing is probably made in China. The Port/Customs Authorities were concerned that the goods were in fact nuclear protective clothing and maybe were going to be shipped from China to Iran.

This illustrates that ports worldwide are looking at cargo and making sure it is stopped before it leaves the port of departure not seized at the port of entry because that maybe too late.

Back during the days of the Clinton Administration I called Rush's 800# to speculate that an unexplainable increase of the interest rate was an attempt by the Fed to draw people out of the stock market and back to banks for the express purpose of increasing banking liquidity ratios. A few days later Rush parroted the same line as his own idea. That day he became more of an entertainer and less of an analytical talk show host. I tune in to his program now knowing that most of what he proclaims as original thought has been Bidenized. He still a pretty funny guy, though.

~LOL~ how true. I still think Rush is pretty brilliant overall and Sean starts to get repetitive and I can't abide his interviews with Huffington, Rangel, etc...

Is it a shock coming from Letterman these days? I did think the Leno Rifelman thing was funny, though.

It was largely ignored except here, where we had live threads and everything any media source would have needed to have began coverage of the real story of the week if they wanted.

Here's what the port of Seattle is doing:

Security
Since 9/11, trade and travel security has been an international priority. The Port of Seattle incorporated this priority into its business strategies, with goals to reinforce safety and security at all Port assets, collaborate with other organizations and governments for an integrated security approach, and participate in national and global security efforts while facilitating the smooth flow of international commerce.

In 2003, the Port of Seattle joined the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation's STAR program (Secure Trade in the APEC Region) as an integral partner in the Bangkok/Laem Chabang Efficient and Secure Trade project. The project demonstrated end-to-end supply chain security between Thailand and the U.S.

At the APEC meeting in October, U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell presented a Port-produced video overview of the project as a model of security measures to be considered for broader application. The audience included nearly 500 CEOs of multinational corporations.

Many other efforts are underway to meet our security goals. The airport has worked to improve passenger flow through federally-operated security checkpoints, and keep travelers informed about changes. The seaport has cooperated with Tacoma and Everett to secure federal grants for facility security projects, and is participating in Operation Safe Commerce with the Port of Tacoma.

"The Port of Seattle is the first port in the nation to enter into formal partnerships with the government of Thailand and the Ports of Singapore and Hong Kong to demonstrate container security practices. This new system will catalog and inspect U.S.-bound cargo at foreign ports. It will allow U.S. authorities to track the shipments through their entry into the U.S. and on to their final destination."

U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-Washington)

Sean might want to come up with an original thought each decade for Rush to be worrying about him.

Now stop trying to stir up the pot, bts. :)

That is good to hear...maybe I will have to try that on our local hosts...

The ones I am thinking about are conservative...but even they have started buying into this "secrecy" talking point of the dems..and, the "liar" tag they have placed on Bush since day one...

For some reason the NSA thing has unhinged hosts that I thought were rock solid in Bush's camp...

I was astonished that Letterman said what he said (Cheney/lesbian daughter/Whittington jokes), and said it the way he said it. He said it with such real venom and zeal. I had thought David was a pretty decent guy, but that was truly disgusting!
