To Whom It May Concern:
In the Name of God the Compassionate and Merciful
To the Courageous Men and Women of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, who
have changed the city of Tall Afar from a ghost town, in which
terrorists spread death and destruction, to a secure city flourishing
with life.
To the lion-hearts who liberated our city from the grasp of terrorists
who were beheading men, women and children in the streets for many
months.
To those who spread smiles on the faces of our children, and gave us
restored hope, through their personal sacrifice and brave fighting, and
gave new life to the city after hopelessness darkened our days, and
stole our confidence in our ability to reestablish our city.
Our city was the main base of operations for Abu Mousab Al Zarqawi. The
city was completely held hostage in the hands of his henchmen. Our
schools, governmental services, businesses and offices were closed. Our
streets were silent, and no one dared to walk them. Our people were
barricaded in their homes out of fear; death awaited them around every
corner. Terrorists occupied and controlled the only hospital in the
city. Their savagery reached such a level that they stuffed the corpses
of children with explosives and tossed them into the streets in order to
kill grieving parents attempting to retrieve the bodies of their young.
This was the situation of our city until God prepared and delivered unto
them the courageous soldiers of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, who
liberated this city, ridding it of Zarqawi s followers after harsh
fighting, killing many terrorists, and forcing the remaining butchers to
flee the city like rats to the surrounding areas, where the bravery of
other 3d ACR soldiers in Sinjar, Rabiah, Zumar and Avgani finally
destroyed them.
I have met many soldiers of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment; they are
not only courageous men and women, but avenging angels sent by The God
Himself to fight the evil of terrorism.
The leaders of this Regiment; COL McMaster, COL Armstrong, LTC Hickey,
LTC Gibson, and LTC Reilly embody courage, strength, vision and wisdom.
Officers and soldiers alike bristle with the confidence and character of
knights in a bygone era. The mission they have accomplished, by means of
a unique military operation, stands among the finest military feats to
date in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and truly deserves to be studied in
military science. This military operation was clean, with little
collateral damage, despite the ferocity of the enemy. With the skill and
precision of surgeons they dealt with the terrorist cancers in the city
without causing unnecessary damage.
God bless this brave Regiment; God bless the families who dedicated
these brave men and women. >From the bottom of our hearts we thank the
families. They have given us something we will never forget. To the
families of those who have given their holy blood for our land, we all
bow to you in reverence and to the souls of your loved ones. Their
sacrifice was not in vain. They are not dead, but alive, and their souls
hovering around us every second of every minute. They will never be
forgotten for giving their precious lives. They have sacrificed that
which is most valuable. We see them in the smile of every child, and in
every flower growing in this land. Let America, their families, and the
world be proud of their sacrifice for humanity and life.
Finally, no matter how much I write or speak about this brave Regiment,
I haven t the words to describe the courage of its officers and
soldiers. I pray to God to grant happiness and health to these legendary
heroes and their brave families.
NAJIM ABDULLAH ABID AL-JIBOURI Mayor of Tall Afar, Ninewa, Iraq
In the path of our rights to criticize our administration or legislative bodies have we not lost, along the way, the desire or perhaps right, even an obligation perchance, to support America first and then take care of our "dirty laundry" as secondary to that?
Did Al Gore's lunatic attack on America to a group of Saudis in Saudi Arabia justify his trashing America to gratify his urge to pander to the enemy? Insofar as the 9/11 ethnicity of the attackers was concerned and the seminar hosts being the brother and family of our high priority enemy Bin Laden?
Have we lost our minds in the frenzy of Bush bashing? Have we no honor? Have we no shame left? Or is cutting off your nose to spite your face the best we can come up with? The only gratification that soothes our snide and spiteful hearts?
Here's a link for you:

I am becoming disillusioned with the ignorance of both the democrats and REPUBLICANS. All the attacks on this administration do not come from just the left.
Thank you, NAJIM ABDULLAH ABID AL-JIBOURI
bump & pong
I tend to agree with you but it's mostly the MSM which does the dirty work or heavy lifting in the bashing arena. Then RINOs step in and some unexpected Republicans add their two cents when a unified front would serve the country well.
Always appreciate a heads-up. Thanks
Everyone should read what this Iraqi mayor has to say...print it out...and then hold it up in the face of any of the liberal/rino/self-serving/anti-American or other detractors of the mission our soldiers are embarked upon. Wow! What a message!
It was the mayor of Tall'Afar (not Baghdad) and this was posted a week ago.
Be careful about posting things you receive in an e-mail.
bump for a moving statement...
where did Jeff say it was Baghdad? Jeff didn't even post it.
BTW, the "Col. McMaster" who is referred to here is the same H.R. McMaster who wrote a scathing indictment of the Johnson administration's Vietnam policy called "Dereliction of Duty." I used it in my college classes on military history for many years.

Should be read by every talk show host. THIS is why we are there...and the people, the Iraqis themselves know it and respect it. God bless this man for committing this to words...to print. He has probably risked his very life and that of his family by so doing. !
NAJIM ABDULLAH ABID AL-JIBOURI Mayor of Tall Afar, Ninewa, Iraq
And the link provided in the thread is good reference.
Sorry, hit the wrong reply button.
Point is the article is old news and the title is wrong.
Really good news. Thank you.
Such beautiful words. Thanks for posting.
I sent this to a friend of mine who was in the 3rd ACR when they went in with the initial strike. He served in Anbar and lost his best friend there. He was so glad to see this. Too bad we don't have an American media, if we did they'd be reading this every hour on the hour.
This is news.. as newsworthy any front page news..
MsM NOT printed and displaying this is sedition directly and may even skirt treason..
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1577929/posts
and it's great to see it up again. As many people as possible should see this letter.
The mods have been wonderful about allowing the repostings.
Phillistone, while your advice about e-mails is sound, this letter from the mayor of Tall 'Afar is quite real.It has been referenced by commandeers in the field and has been documented as accurate by other freepers on previous threads.
Thanks for the wonderful post FARS!
This letter seems almost too good to be true. I'd like to know its provenance before I start sending copies around to my friends and correspondents.
Yes indeed. I'm sure some crack investigative reporter will find out who paid the mayor to pen this tribute to our troops. </s>
I agree the e-mail is real, the title was not (Tall'Afar, not Baghdad).
Just trying to help set the record straight before the false version gets too far out of hand.
The thread says "Mayor of Tall Afar" and does not mention Bagdad. What are you posting? Plus Jeff didn't post this. Wake up and apologize to Jeff Head.
Must have been. Original title mentioned "Baghdad Mayor".
Another quick thought: Be careful about posting things you know nothing about.
Already apologized to Jeff. Mod changed the title from "Baghdad Mayor" to "Iraqi Mayor".
Problem solved.
You beat me to it. I didn't understand the snide comment about "email" either. I think others will pick up on it also. thanks
Maybe old news but it's the first time that I've seen it so I, for one, am happy to see it.
Now it makes sense. My apologies.
At the risk of offending even more people (which I seem to do quite often), my point was simply that the post had been posted lasted week and that the title (since changed) was erroneous.
We should ALL be careful about posting things we receive in e-mails (since many of them are false, altered or modified in the telling).
The story is a great one. But some early posters may have gotten the impression that it came from the Mayor of Baghdad which it did not.
Seriously, I was making a minor point that has been made here a million times before: be careful what you post and try a search to see if it has been posted before.
That's all.
Try this site which was given to me as a kind heads up
http://www.mudvillegazette.com/archives/004167.html
Bravo. Thanks for posting.
The title "Iraqi Mayor" was the original title under which I posted this and not changed by a mod. (???)
I'm not sure where you became confused and apparently a bit annoyed. I never used the word Baghdad nor did I see anyone else use it, so perhaps you were referring to one of the previous posts you saw sometime in the past - and are now confusing me. :-)) And, apparently, some of the others.
Have a great Sunday.
Hmm... now you've got ME confused.
The reason I clicked the link was that I thought it was different from the one I saw last week and that the Baghdad Mayor was somehow echoing the Tall'Afar mayor.
When I saw that it was the same article I re-read it and again read "Baghdad".
If not, my apologies all around (except that it really was posted last week!).
Cheers.
Mod made no changes to my posting.
I never used "Baghdad" at all and so no change was necessary.
I know the region and did not need to be informed that the mayor in question was not the Mayor of Baghdad.
I'm getting bashed for someone else's "misquote" at some other date (which I had never seen) but that's life. No worries.
Thanks for the link. I went to the site and while they seem to be a well-meaning blogsite, I'm naturally a little dubious as to the provenance.
Maybe if the mayor would just write Fox or even Rush Limbaugh...
Gee,
I have been here 5 years longer than you have and this is the first time that I have seen this.
Stick around a few years before you try to run the site.
Discuss it with JimRob first too.
Thanks,
Tom Eaker
PS: Thanks for the ping Jeff!
The way it is written no doubt he has indeed.
Already read it but definitely worth bumping, again and again.
Thanks for posting.
Bottom line of letter:
" NAJIM ABDULLAH ABID AL-JIBOURI Mayor of Tall Afar, Ninewa, Iraq"
Also a thank you to Jeff Head for the ping since I don't have the time to check every thread.
thanks again to both of you.
You are weclome. Best Fregards.
Vety couragous of him as well...and I am glad to see it. My own friends on the ground there (both military and contractors) tell me that this is much more common than our press represents, and I believe it. The vote turnouts are indicative of the exact same.
You are very welcome my friend. Spread it around. Best Fregards and God's best to you and yours down yonder.
Well, I never saw anything like an apology addressed to me...but then, I'm not looking for one in any case. It was clear to me from the get go that your earlier response to me was a mistake of some sort on your part.
Thanks for the ping.
Amen! Thanks for the ping!
Hey Jeff, haven't said hi for quite a while. Hope everything is good with you and your family. Thank you for the ping and God Bless. May all your land battles be successful and belong to us! ;)
So much for the MSM trying to stir up controversy.
