Of course..:))
Let's see...after we got out of service and were living back in Florida in Port Malabar, we were not far from where the Florida East Coast Railroad track crossed a trestle over Turkey Creek to get into the town of Palm Bay.
Now and then they and the buncha other "sons" I 'dopted would be daring and go across, knowing the train would blow its horn to warn them of an approach.
Okey dokey - one Saturday they were saddled (every other one, which I worked then) with watching Jennifer - she being 9, and they 16 and 17.
They all (and other 'sons')were going back and forth, when a train approached MUCH closer than they thought, bearing down on them on the trestle!
They ran toward the far end, but Jennifer stumbled to a halt..Kevin (16) bravely dashed back and picked her up, and managed to reach safety with her *JUST* in time...
Things one is glad they not to have witnessed..:))
As for sledding, the first Christmas all three children and their spouses were with us for Christmas, in Greensboro, NC in 1983, it had snowed wonderfully. We lived then in an apartment along a major road that was fairly hilly, so not having a sled, they *improvised* wonderfully.
I had just replaced my ironing board, so they retrieved the old one from the curb, took it over to the iced-over main road (no traffic at the moment), and two by two, went down the steep grade on it..:))
Children of any age will have fun, and be - children - LOL
They all survived being military children; and, I like to think, because they were...fearless, able to adjust to anything, and resourceful...
Know you have many memories of those early 50's, too, when we were
so busy with meeting Navy vessels and babies and MOVING - OFTEN..:))
Ah, Lady...your wonderful stories. When are you going to write that best-seller about your full and adventure-filled life. I always read them, though sometimes I have no comment to make. (((hugs)))
Ah, yes!
Fact is, even umbilical stem-cells are considered adult stem cells.
Main problen embryonic has had none, zilch, nada sucess.
Adult stems have had overwhelming success.
Your own cells can heal your own body. Cells taken from your bone marrow can be inserted into your heart, your spine etc and will rejuvinate your damaged cells.
The MSM and politicans ignore it all because of the pressure from pro abort groups.
We don't even have to go there to prove the point that your own cells have been successful.
as in "Things one is glad they not to have witnessed..:))??
they !!
Preach on, Rus...and shout it loud and clear whenever and wherever you can get a venue! (((hugs)))
This winter there has been a stirring to add another chapter, and just this afternoon, thoughts for it have started to take form. I really do need to do that and have them printed; especially for my children, as loving gifts...God has been so good to me!!!
It's late and I've got to get to bed but I wanted you and the rest of the Finest to know that I just got word that my son just got back from Iraq. Safe and sound.
Thank all you guys who have kept him in your prayers!
