Many thanks, DH: hadn't seen this.
I have to admit that I'm rooting for Katie to stay, since she's been my liberal media bias bread-and-butter for so long!
To: LdSentinal
Can CBS management be so stupid, or do they actually believe KC will help their ratings? How can they possibly not know how dumb this move is? I agree with Savage -- Liberalism is a mental disorder...

She reminds of a person who would be good reading children to kids and that is all. Not if she's the one who chooses the book.

There's a typo in the post. The correct spelling is "Perqi Qati al-Khouriq."

I think they decided it would be cheaper to go with a known President Bush hater and flaming lefty as opposed to developing their own from almost scratch. It may look easy but not everyone can reach the low standards set by Dan Rather. There are plenty of flaming leftist newsies, but how many can create negative documents out of thin air and play them as credible news? Not many. They may need to do something like it again on a future Republican and Katie Colonic seems like their best hope.

Katie Couric doing 'serious' news.
ROFLMAO!
Don't let the door hit you on the butt on your way out - Katie. Oh, and maybe if you fail at the evening news - we'll be rid of you forever.
WOOHOO!

Two news leaks over the weekend indicate that Katie is ready to leave the show to take over the anchor desk at "CBS Evening News." And in so doing, her typical daily audience will drop from a few million to a few thousand.
But that won't bother her, just as long as the CBS paychecks keep clearing.

"What If" things don't work out at CBS?
Well, she can always join DJ Roberts at CNN.

Couric dominates her current field. Most on FR don't like her, but she pulls big numbers. CBS News only has two requirements of their anchors: they must be liberal and they must pull numbers. Rather would still be there, but his numbers stunk. The National Guard memo flap was the excuse, not the reason he was dumped.
Couric is moving because she doesn't want to be a "perky, morning talk show host." She wants to be "important." She is at a point where money is not the issue. She wants to be remembered in the same thoughts as Edward Murrow, Walter Cronkite, David Brinkley, Tom Brokaw and Peter Jennings. Even though to most of us, those guys are just propaganda mouthpieces, in her circle, they're giants.
To: LdSentinal
Have the networks not figured out that half hour network news programs are on the way out? People get their news on the fly these days, either from cable all day news or the internet. Who wants to sit through thirty minutes of propaganda anyway.

If this happens, I predict that Couric will be the last news anchor at CBS News ever.
They will eventually realize that nobody is watching and shut the division down.
They'll blame it on the audience and on Fox News.
