33rd highest grossing movie among those which came out in the USA in 200

uh, do you mean this list is of movies liked by those 'that came out' (of the closet?) or is of movies that 'came out' (released) ... big difference!!! ;-)

So, nine million people saw this film. Big deal.

Or a million saw it nine times to boost the numbers to make it look mainstream.

You missed the point, the "racist response" is just the msm'S talking points (Or Memes) the author refers to then as.

I bet they lost money because they had to pay for more publicity

So, nine million people saw this film. Big deal.

In a country of about 200 million Christians, 9 million is pretty low. I suspect 1 million people couldn't get enough of that rotgut they saw it 9 times.

Here's a fun, and subversive hobby for all FReepers: Make the term and concept of "Meme" a mainstream part of the American Lexicon. Pattern Recognition is a dangerous thing to a propagandist.

Something less than 8 million people have seen Bareback Cowboys, hardly a political juggernaut in a country of over 280 million people, where more than 80 million vote in national elections, especially when one considers that some significant percentage of those 8 million undoubtedly left the theatre either unmoved by or completely opposed to the film's message.

The only Brokeback Mountain juggernaut is in the minds of the hypsters and hucksters in Hollywood and the MSM.

26 March of the Penguins WIP $77,437,223 2,506 $137,492 4 6/24 12/1

33 Brokeback Mountain Focus $72,038,000 2,089 $547,425 5 12/9 -

Well, that's refreshing:  a movie about peacocks can't beat a movie about penguins.

9 million out of 300 million in the USA?

That really deflates the 10% number, AGAIN. If anything I submit it shows there are even FEWER homsexuals than 2%.

Another "meme" shot down.

"So I guess that not liking a movie may be considered "racist" and "bigotry" by the left?"

Not only not liking, but even not seeing it, is considered bigotry by the left. Awful lot of bigots in this country huh?

it does show how the affair hurts the families.

Maybe this film should have been marketed as a "pro-family values" film.

Don't worry, the left is going to MANDATE all college freshmen MUST see it.

In fact it will win the oscar so it can be FORCED upon film studies classes.

GLSEN will mandate it be included in high school classes.

Eventually they will be showing it on saturday morning cartoon hours to "educate children."

I also predict pedophiles will use it to recruite new victims.

There is a growing trend. Even that boring old bass turd Willie Nelson is trying to target red staters with an album that seeks to put this movie to song. As I said over there, "I find his brand of boring old cowboy croonin' horse***t annoying".

"I know no one who's seen it nor plans to."

not only do I not plan on seeing it, but I also nixed the idea of taking my girls to the movies last weekend because every theatre was screening it. The only way that Hollyweird will ever get any message is if we stop paying them.
