Joint Chiefs of Staff planners have produced a 27-page briefing on the war on terror that seeks to explain how to win the "long war" and says Islamic extremists may be supported by 12 million Muslims worldwide. Military planners worry that al Qaeda could win if "traditional allies prefer accommodation." Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, the document states, "is absolutely committed to his cause. His religious ideology successfully attracts recruits. He has sufficient population base from which to protract the conflict. ... Even support of 1 percent of the Muslim population would equate to over 12 million 'enemies.' "

As long as we keep fighting by Queensbury Rules it will be long.

But a few all out air attacks on Mecca/Medina/Islamabad/Tehran/Palestine might lessen the body count.

I can shorten that 27 pages down to 1 sentence.

Eradicate all muzzies, or prove to them once and for all that they worship a false religion.

But it would also stir up a heck of horents nest amoung the "overseas" Jihadies, and those outside of the target areas in those countries.

Still 12 million is a big number and it will take lots of bombs and bullets to "convince" them that Jihad is not the way.

The difference being that, whatever else his faults, Hirohito did care about the Japanese people. You think Osama and the Mad Mullahs give rat's patootie about all the "Martyrs" that we'd be making. Secondly, the Japanese revered their emperor as a God, and if God said to stop fighting and cooperate with the Yankees, then they did just that, with gusto. The Mad Mullahs don't have that kind of personal authority, and wouldn't issue such "orders" in the first place, no matter how many of those they've brainwashed die. (A better approach might be selective strikes against those mullahs, including their Mosques, where ever they might be found.)
