So can anyone hybrid these faiths? Is it enough to cite the Brazilian tradition? Where does a person's "religion" begin?

Brazilians have been blending Christian beliefs with just about anything coming down the pike.
Macumba which has been around since the 1500s , is a mixture of African spirit worship and the Roman Catholic church.
