An armed gang disguised as police has stolen more than £25 million ($59.62 million) from a security depot in southern England after abducting its manager and his family.
A spokesman for the Bank of England said the money, in banknotes, was stolen overnight from a cash centre at Tonbridge in Kent county.
No one was injured in the robbery.
There are unconfirmed reports that the final figure could be up to £40 million ($A94.78 million), making it the biggest heist in British history.
The manager of the Securitas main cash depot in Tonbridge in Kent was pulled over while driving on last night by what he believed was an unmarked police car, Kent Police said.
This is impossible on its face. Everyone knows that firearms are illgeal in the UK. If they are illegal, then the general population is automatically protected against their use in the commission of crimes. Someone needs to do some fact-checking.
Just like the Harrison ford movie, big haul
Problem is spending that cash
+1
Certainly they could not have been armed. Everyone knows guns are illegal in the UK.
$59 million is 1 hr and 15 minutes. Let's see per hour that comes to about what a lawsuit lawyer makes.
Whitey Bulger.
Well wowee. Nothing like maximizing the risk:reward ratio.
Never understood armed robbery for a grand. But for 94 million............ Personally I'd pass but I can see how it would be tempting to folks.
