A 32-year-old new immigrant from the U.S. was arrested on Wednesday for bringing arms into the country.
On Thursday the Jerusalem Magistrates Court extended his remand by four days.
The man, who immigrated to Israel in 2005 and eventually settled in Beit Shemesh, brought with him a large container with, among other things, an M-16 rifle, a sniper rifle, pistol, magazine clips, army equipment, commando knives, helmets, night vision apparatus and rappelling gear.
The container was not held up upon entering the country.
However, Jerusalem Police investigators arrested the new immigrant after he sent himself parts of a pistol separately.
According to police, during his interrogation the man said “Israel is dangerous and I must protect my family,” adding that he had collected the military equipment as a hobby.

I love the "sniper" rifle, looks like a plain old everyday hunting rifle to me. Sounds like the liberals are in charge of the press big time over there. That "M-16" is it really an M-16 or is an AR or similar and the press is waxing poetic like they did with the "sniper" rifle?

Thanks for the post, depressing as it is. I find it nearly unbelievable that in a place where the potential for savage violence from an enemy hostile to your parentage is very real, you have to jump through hoops to own one or two guns. I can walk into any gun shop and buy more than that, and without any permits. Of course, dealing with a socialist tyranny this kind of thing is to be expected.

Israel was started Jewish Russians in the late 1800s who were secular Marxist/Bolshevik/Socialist/Commie/Fascist Jews. Gun control is as natural to them as breathing air.
Today they still run the joint and want to drive the relgious Jews out of Israel.
Now the war is on to "persuade" religious Jews that they aren't welcome in the Land anymore.
