"Could I get a copy of that list of discoveries the Discovery Institute has made? Anybody?"

They have discovered that an enormous number of scientists practice their craft so badly they should be sued for malpractice, at best, but better, quackery.

So, D.I. has discovered that the reason scientists are so bad at teaching science is that it is actually NOT science, but instead of form of evangelism. Thus, Secular Darwinian Scientists are merely priests for the philosophy known as scientific materialism, and they are adroitly deceptive about the fact they are preachers first, seekers of 'knowledge' second.

If I were a secular scientist, I would appreciate very much the encouragement, the goad, provided by those heretics who are mal-appropriating MY word "science" for their nefarious ends (hurting my cash-cow grant machine, for example). Such prodding will only shorten that length of time by which evolutionary scientists will finally be able to show the crazy creationists just how air tight the T.o.E is .... really.

And they discovered this by their original science which has been peer reviewed and published where? Anywhere?

Now you'll claim a big conspiracy theory prevented the publication. Right.

I simply do not understand posts like this.

Why are you so bitterly anti-science?

Is it for religious reasons, that you just don't like the answers science finds, or is there some deep-seated personal animosity?

Most of the folks on FR who disagree with evolution at least provide reasons for their beliefs, but you seem to be genuinely anti-science.

That's it? A bunch of subjective opinions about the work of people whose work they are not fit, educated or capable of judging? That's the list?

Wow, for this they need to be in an institute. The ID-iot Institute.

They have discovered that an enormous number of scientists practice their craft so badly they should be sued for malpractice, at best, but better, quackery.

And those so-called "scientists" are the "creation scientists". That's why they constantly put out such bogus "findings" full of fallacies, errors, gross misuses of methodology, or outright misrepresentations as these. Every time I have looked at one of the "Discovery Institute's" so-called papers, I have found them to be full of blatant violations of basic standards.

So, D.I. has discovered that the reason scientists are so bad at teaching science is that it is actually NOT science, but instead of form of evangelism.

Well, at least they're capable of recognizing their own problems, wherein they substitute trying to "prove" the Bible for actual science.

As the founders of the institute wrote in their 1999 manifesto known as the "Wedge Document," they want "nothing less than the overthrow of materialism and its cultural legacies in favor of a broadly theistic understanding of nature."

Further evidence of the institute's primary mission is the fact that they have actually tried to distance themselves from lawsuits and legislation that seek to force intelligent design into schools' curricula.

Yet, the strongest indictment against an organization that claims to be a "nonpartisan public policy think tank conducting research on technology, science and culture" is simply where they get their money.

Evidence from tax forms shows the Discovery Institute received grants and gifts totaling $4.1 million in 2003 from 22 foundations, at least two-thirds of which had primarily religious missions.

“We give for religious purposes,” said Thomas McCallie, executive director of the Ahmansons’ Foundation. “This is not about science. Darwin was about a metaphysical view of the world.”

The Ahmansons’ foundation has provided 35 percent of the Discovery Institute’s funding since it started and now gives in excess of $350,000 a year.

The Stewardship Foundation - whose mission statement reads “to contribute to the propagation of the Christian gospel by evangelical missionary work” - gave the institute $1 million over four years.

Other funding came from organizations such as the Henry P. and Susan C. Crowell Trust whose mission is “the teaching and active extension of the Doctrines of Evangelical Christianity.”

Representatives of the Discovery Institute say that too much attention is focused on their funders and not enough on the “evidence” they provide to support intelligent design. Yet the “Wedge Document” explains that intelligent design is only a means to an end. It says, “Design theory promises to reverse the stifling dominance of the materialist world view, and to replace it with science consonant with Christian and theistic convictions.”

-- Fred Barton, "Intelligent design group is just a religious front"

Let's be truthful here, gobucks. You know diddly squat about how science is done or taught. You're a snake-handling fundie scam artist, who probably can't set a programmable thermostat. You know no more about science than you do about Judaism. So give us all a break, and get back to conning some poor schmucks out of their 10%.

You forgot that DI is always discovering the press release announcing another scientific study needs a same-day rebuttal, even if no one at D.I. has read the study yet.

http://www.ncseweb.org/resources/news/2002/ZZ/693_ncse_asks_discovery_institute_2_7_2002.asp

Never mind for a moment that the rebuttals are nonsense. Just absorb the concept of what is going on here. Some group of scientists does a study and announces the results. D.I. goes into "War Room" mode. (Think Carville and Stephanopolis steering the Clinton campaign through Whitewater and Jennifer Flowers here.) They do their utmost to sweep the menacing new knowledge under the rug, to unDiscover it. They really have nerve calling themselves what they do.
