May I ask how it is that harm is bound to come from positing the idea of an intelligent designer as responsible for the presence of organized matter that performs specific functions?

It diminishes curiosity about the actual history of life.

I don't see how it follows that curiousity is diminished if one undertakes the study of science with intelligent design as an inductive standard. Should I understand that your basic argument against intelligent design is that it threatens curiosity, and is hence a bad idea?
