We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so we may always be free. --President Ronald Reagan Normandy, France
Ronald Reagan did not fight in either theater of World War II, but he certainly used his talents on the home front selling war bonds and supporting the troops. The main reason I included this tribute is because he believed in what the World War II GIs were fighting and dying for. He believed in Freedom. He is cognizant that without Freedom, nothing else is important, and that Freedom is worth all it takes to obtain and preserve it.
He fought a different war, in a later time, against another enemy. He didn't storm Nazi guns with a Garand in his hands. He faced the liberal Democrats in Washington, and the Evil Empire in the Soviet Union and he won the Cold War. This is my way of saying thanks to him, and I hope others will remember."
"Peace Through Strength," was a recurring theme of the President's life in public service. America won The Cold War on this doctrine. The President spoke of its significance in his Radio Address to the Nation on September 24, 1988 when he said: "One thing is certain. if we're to continue to advance world peace and human freedom, America must remain strong. if we have learned anything these last eight years, it's that peace through strength works." ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Be strong America!!!! Beautiful pictures, thanks! I really love that first one... Makes a big 25-story building look puny.
Be strong good persons!!!! Thank you
Thank you "Makes a big 25-story building look puny?"!!!!
Nice. Thanks.
Thanks for the pics.
Isn't that approx how large that building in the background is? I dunno, I'm just guessing. Anywho, the Reagan makes it look small to me. What a beautiful ship!
Thank you
Look at the difference between the firat and second photos.
They're gettin' it all scratched up and dirty!
Dziekuje.
The USS Reagan is homeported in the city I live in, San Diego.
How many men would you estimate are in the first picture, standing around the perimeter of the ship?
In the second picture I was amazed at how many F/A-18's this ship holds. Looks to be at least 20 from what I can see.
Thanx for the pics. What a truly awesome projector of American resolve. There was a show on Discovery about the building of the USS Ronald W. Reagan or the on before it. During sea trials, the rudders were kicked hard over. There was a view from the hangar deck looking out to sea. The angle was so great that all you saw was a sliver of sky and the rest was water. That has to be a wild ride during sea trials for any ship, let alone a carrier. I hope to one day see the RWR. I've seen the Missouri and that was awesome. The RWR would be something else.
More tangible proof of the US as a SUPER super-power.
Absolutely beautiful.
Seeing the USS REAGAN is so meaningful since we watched her christening. Then actually seeing her in the waters...well, she is magnificent just like her namesake. Thank you so much.
Oh how much embodied the Spirit of 1776.
These are awesome! Thanks so much for posting them.
Major floating asset PING!
I saw the the USS Ronald Reagan at the Norfolk Naval Shipyards two days before commissioning. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me. And I watched the televised commissioning. I was proud and very impressed.
Be strong America!!! This is outstanding. This what I want to know. Thank you all
