I don't believe it. The MSM is saying that within the year Iraq is going to deteriorate into a massive Civil War and the Iraq army will be helpless.
To: new yorker 77
Iraq population: under 30 million.
US population: nearly 300 million.

That makes it better.
So we are on the cusp of civil war rather than full civil war.
I thought the 50,000 murders in the US since the start of the Iraq War was significant.

"...the War on Terror will be won by moderate Muslims,.."
Some might say that moderate and Muslims are mutually exclusive terms.

Lessee, you, and Buckley, have been to Iraq how many times? While Karl Zinsmeister has been there for three extended tours, Hanson has just returned, and my students, who report to me monthly, are there as we speak. Hmmm. Whose opinion do I value more?
Not your's or Buckley's.

Buckley is an 80 year old journalist who inherited all his money. I doubt he would condescend to talk to an American army battalion commander.

Buckley is an 80 year old journalist who inherited all his money.Again addressing his personal life without addressing his actual credentials. What does his age, his profession, or how he came into his money have to do with his stance or his conservative credentials?

For Hanson, the glass is always half-full. His theme song is "Always look at the bright side of life."
To: billbears
Might have to do with how dearly we value his opinions. No doubting his personal gifts, but he is not a scholar nor what one woulds call a "thinker." He is, like George Will, a journalist, a gifted propogandist of other men's ideas.

Hanson is totally brilliant and he is someone who I follow closely . That being said I do think at times he does see thing through rose colored glasses .

According to the CIA, it's 295,000,000+. Of course we must consider the source.
