First off, there is no proof the IRA had any part in this. It appears it was two groups of hooligans from the north who couldn't wait for July to resume their feud.
Secondly, it sounds like both sides could have done this in Belfast or Londonderry and saved a lot of time and money.

Jonathan Swift died on 19 October 1745, aged 78. He hadn't been in a good frame of mind for some time.
