i am not an intellectual to the extent of the writers and those quoted in the article
but it strikes me strange....
that a man by the name of mohammed might spend three hours one night on a chance visit with gabriel
and be able to master a faith.
lets pretend you have a doctorate in brain surgery
and you spend three hours with me telling me about your profession.

Ibn Ishaq died in 768 C.E., one hundred and thirty years after the death of Muhammad. His work is the earliest known attempt at a biography of the Prophet -- and it was distinctly unfavorable. He didn't rate a fatwa, a riot or a beheading, likely because he wrote close to Muhammad's death, when the gloss of the centuries of fabrications hadn't yet elevated the robber-thief-murderer to a god-like status.
