Seems hillary-at-home runs the risk of increasing said requirement. ;)

"You're too stupid to know you're supporting racism when you support vouchers." Exactly. Truly contemptible.., and ironic. hillary clinton is exploiting their worst fears by being the ultimate racist, herself.

Something had been bothering me ever since I first heard this clip. The whiff of racism was undeniable, but it seemed to exceed the actual words.
You nailed it. The form and cadence of an ethnic joke. Very insightful! Thanx.

"Doesn't she also remind you of Al Gore with his "accent" which he puts on when he talks to black people? Ick, that's embarassing."
George Bush does exactly the same thing. He drops "g's" more and his accent gets thicker when he's talking to the general public. He's more "refined" sounding when he's talking to executives or some similar group.
The reality is that we all do it to some degree. Even if you don't change your accent you change the way you talk to people based on your perceptions of them. I know I do in my job. And I do it because it works.
Given everything else, this is a pretty silly thing to spend any time on.

As you concede, it does provide insight into the speaker's view of his audience, which, In the case of the clintons and Gore, is, invariably, haughty disdain.

So when Bush does it what is it? And there are times when he sounds (on purpose) positively backwoods and uneducated. That isn't talking down to people?
Sorry, but I don't think it's haughty disdain, even when Clinton and Gore do it. It's a simple trick to try to connect better with the audience. And it usually works whether you're black, white, urban, rural or whatever.
When you try to connect some nefarious meaning to every little thing a person like Clinton or Gore does, you start sounding obsessed and even your excellent points start having less impact.

You make a good point. Mimicry is certainly is a natural tendency--is a survival mechanism, in fact.
Perhaps I'm overstating it, but benign--even instintive--cause on the one hand doesn't preclude malignant motivation on the other. IMO the clintons view us as idiots. I don't think Bush comes from that place. (If his PR is to be believed, he want others to view HIM as the idiot.) ;)
As I've often said, the clintons' fundamental error is that they are too arrogant and dim-witted to understand that the demagogic process in this fiberoptic age isn't about counting spun heads; it's about not discounting circumambient brains.

No different from the rant of any anti-life, anti-freedom divisive sociopath anywhere in the world. Throw in enough enablers, insure the words and deeds are never challenged, and you have the lessons of history.
Outstanding work, outstanding FReeper analysis.
