Buchanon's off the deep end. Like those NY politicians of both parties, he cares only about the union jobs of people making 6 figures a year. End of story.

I can't speak for others, but Peter King and Chuck Schumer are not outraged because this agreement will cut into the power of the longshoreman's union.

Every politician in New York State-from conservative upstate Republicans like Congressman John Sweeney to liberal Democrats like Eliot Engel-has a favorable record re: organized labor.

Even Edolphus Towns-who the unions are targeting for his apostasy on CAFTA-has an 80+ percent rating from the AFL-CIO.

That's just a fact of life.

However, that is not why the most outspoken opponents of this sham deal are denouncing it so vociferously.

King and Schumer come from a state that lost over two and a half thousand people during 9/11.

They have spoken out consistently against the burgeoning Islamic threat, from the threat that radical prison muftis pose, to the threat of extreme imams preaching hate, to the need to confront Islamic terror overseas.

This issue transcends parochial political concerns.

It is a matter of life and death.
