I also live in Illinois and we who live south of Springfield don't have a prayer against the crooks in Chicago. They think whatever is good for Chicago is fine for the whole state. All of our taxes go up north to support their lifesty

But aren't most of your local LEO's, being primarily downstate natives themselves, of the same mind as all you in the gainfully employed sector?

Then you haven't been in Wisconsin on a weekend.

========================================

That is certainly true.

bcso, I DO specifically remember when Oberweiss ran last election, he took HELL from the Papers and the Sallys in DuPage for his stance on Immigration. Of course the usual "He hates immigrants crap" they threw at him.

Remember the commercials (which I liked) about the filling of Soldier Field comparisons. He was attacked by everyone. Loved reading in the editorials of the Trib and Sun Times the aghast Mothers stating they were going to cancel their Milk Service because of his intolerance.

Sorry, as horrible as Blago as, I still think he wins. I don't know if Judy Baar is a lot better though. They all seem to be cut of the same cloth. Oberweiss might bringing something new to the table, the other (R)'s I must admit my ignorance regarding their character. I guess I'm more disappointed in the IL voter than anything else.

Even my conservative friends are all too "busy" to even send an email to any Public Figure.

Remember that Illinois developed more so as an industrial state than an agrarian state. It's industrial base (read 'unions') developed far more clout that the farmers and other interests. While its industrial base has withered somewhat, the influence still remains. Thus the climate we have today.

I recall some of Oberweis' campaign from the last election. But the climate has changed on that issue and I question whether he would be as poorly received this time on that same issue. In any event, we can't count on the Chicago papers.

Yes, Oberweis has some signs showing up around here in Clay County. I had a call doing a survey a week ago and it was so funny. The guy was very polite and ask what my priority would be in the next election etc. Then named candidates and ask who I would vote for. Topinka was the first choice then listing the others. I said Oberweis and the caller stuttered somewhat and then thanked me for participating. I'm guessing he wanted Topinka.

What's also interesting is that we've received no mailings at all except from Ron Gidwitz's campaign, and we've been getting those for months.

The only other campaign literature we've received has been for our local sheriff's race. Go figure!

Last gov race could have been won by candidate Jack Ryan who was strongly ahead in the polls

ummm... Ryan ran against Osama, er Obama, for the Senate seat that Fitzgerald vacated.

I certainly hope that firearms and ammunition manufacturers follow the lead of Ronnie Barrett.

Once police departments begin to learn that they can't purchase firearms or ammunition directly from the manufacturers or distributers, having to go through retail channels, maybe they'll begin to get the hint.
