BELGRADE (Reuters) - Nationalists in a Serbian town are calling on local authorities to send back a donated Dutch bus because it comes from the country hosting the U.N. war crimes tribunal, which is prosecuting prominent Serb suspects.
Local members of the opposition Radical Party, whose leader Vojislav Seselj is in detention awaiting trial at the tribunal, say the tulip-painted bus given to the town of Pirot in southeastern Serbia is an insult.
"They should not even think of putting that trash on the streets," said local Radical leader Boban Vojinovic. "Serbian Radicals want no charity from those who are keeping our bravest and most honourable men."
But Mayor Milan Popovic said the donation could not be returned because Pirot needed buses. Several Western countries have donated buses to Serbian towns to help them recover from the Balkan wars of the 1990s.
Popovic agreed that "our people shouldn't be tried abroad, and I'm against everything that is happening" at the tribunal jail in Scheveningen, but added that this "doesn't mean we should not cooperate and accept assistance".
Thousands of Radical supporters demonstrated against the tribunal in Belgrade last week, as the Serbian government faced further censure from the European Union for failing to arrest Bosnian Serb commander Ratko Mladic, a top war crimes fugitive.
wow.
Its this nationalism, so awfully lacking in Europe (except sureptiously during soccer season) that will save Serbia the fate of the rest of western europe - sharia' law in another generation.
Thay just said that thay don`t need charity. Actualy foreighn trash.
Serbs like Crysler, Fords, Mercedes...
:))))
To the Dutch,
This is the price you pay for sticking your neck out and doing the right thing -
Welcome to the club.
I asked a guy in Serbia "Why you are driving Yugo, ut is crap?" he anwsered" "It`s my crap"
"Would you drive Ford?" "If our factory makes it under licence, yes"
1. Serbs concider Mladic innocent.
2. If guilty, serbs will judge him
3. If someone else is forcing us and humiliating us, at least serbs won`t take their charity.
In serbia charity is concideren insult. Only fair trade and buissiness is acceptable.
LOL.
FORD - Fix Or Repair Daily
Ford is out...but if the Yugo can be re- engineered I would buy one.
But wait...I think it has been re engineered.

Yeah, sure. They've done such a bang-up job of prosecuting their own war criminals in the last decade.
How's that Bityqi brothers investigation coming along?
Serbian justice is the punchline to an unfunny joke.
Oh right, European nationalism --- it's truly a shame that went away, because Napoleon, Kaiser Wilhelm II and Hitler were such recipes for success.
Hoppy!
Your alive!
I guess that you will be driving that Dutch bus?
Heheheheeeeeee

Why you put Napoleon alongside WilhelmII and Hitler?
napoleon was smart man. Well, OK we Serbs fought him aswell, but Hitler and Napoleon...
Hitler wasn`t natonalist, he was nazi, something diferent.
Now,
Winston Churchill was nationalist, Giuseppe Garibaldi, Tadeus Koscusko, Napoleon and many more!
Now, after WWII nationalism died in europe, except Spain with Franko.
yed, Jimmy Stuart was close friend of Franko...
There's no reason to bring that up again.
I really didn't know the punch was spiked and I've already completed the court ordered community service.
But it's one that lets you live free and not under sharia law.
Not much call for professional pancake-flippers there, huh?
Hey amn, look at Hoplites post above:)
he obviously speaks Serbian:))))))))
