Candlelight Vigil-Terri Winchell-

Posted on 02/28/2006 2:07:50 PM PST by Jackie-O

Morales was sentenced to death for the rape and murder of Terri Lynn Winchell, a 17 year old Lodi Tokay High school senior.

Terri was 17 and just months away from her high school graduation when she disappeared Jan. 8, 1981.

The next day her body was found in a vieyard in Lodi. She had been strangled, hit 23 times in the head with a hammer, raped and stabbed in the chest.

Morales was scheduled to die by lethal injection on Feb. 21, 2006.

On Jan 27, 2006 Kenneth Starr formally asked Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to spare the life of Morales because he was sorry for the rape and murder of Terri.

When that didn't work other lawyers representing Morales made a last ditch argument in court saying that lethal injection is a curel and unsual punishment because they don't know how much pain it will cause and should be ruled unconstitutional.

As Terri's parents sat waiting by the phone for updates by the family members planning to witness the execution they were told the execution had been postphoned indefinetely and they will have to wait months before another execution date MIGHT be set. One of Terri's best friends from high school. Her and the family are planning a Candle Light Vigil for March 3rd at Tokay High School in Lodi. Please help me and Terri's family and friends to light a candle for Terri

LOVE TRIANGLE GONE VICIOUS
Terri Lynn Winchell had no inkling her beau's jealous boyfriend would exact a horrible revenge
Kevin Fagan, Chronicle Staff Writer

Monday, February 20, 2006

According to court testimony, Morales began plotting ways to kill Winchell, practicing how to strangle someone by wrapping a belt around a female roommate's neck and cranking it tight. Once he had the technique down, he waited for the call to action. It came on a Thursday, Jan. 8, 1981.

Ortega, pretending to want to ease tensions with Winchell, called her house around 5:30 p.m. as she was heading out the door to buy food for her mother, who was ill. He told her he wanted her help buying a gift at a local shopping center. Eager to mend fences, Winchell agreed to go, relatives testified.

Ortega picked her up around 6 p.m. In the back seat was Morales, with a claw hammer, a belt and a 7-inch kitchen knife hidden and ready. He was already stoned and agitated from guzzling cheap Thunderbird wine and smoking a PCP-laced cigarette.

As night fell and the Central Valley tule fog formed, Ortega drove his car out of Lodi along lonely Peltier Road. According to court records, they were a few miles out of town when Morales suddenly cinched his belt around Winchell's neck and began strangling her. She fought back fiercely. The belt broke, so he pulled out the hammer and began bashing her head.

"She screamed for Ortega to help and attempted to fight off the attack, ripping her own hair out of her scalp in the struggle," according to a state attorney general's account. Ortega ignored her pleas and as Morales told him to keep driving he smashed her 23 times in the head, crushing the base of her neck and bloodying her arms and hands as she tried to ward off the blows.

By the time Ortega pulled over at the corner of Bender and Peltier roads, 7 miles outside Lodi, Winchell was unconscious and slumped against the passenger door. According to investigators, Morales hopped out of the car, and saying it was a shame to waste "a good piece of ass," he told Ortega to leave the two of them, drive away and come back in 15 minutes.

Morales dragged the still-unconscious Winchell face-down across the road into a vineyard. There, in the chilly darkness, he stripped her of everything but her sweater and bra, which he pulled up to her neck. Then he flipped her onto her back and raped her in the dirt.

Just before he headed back to the road, he plunged his knife four times into her chest to make sure she was dead.

Please see article, tells the whole story.

Well if we can't execute him maybe we could just have him fall off his horse and bump his head in prison.

Death is to kind considering what this bastard did.

Oh well. If this earthly justice fails we still have faith the eternal justice is sure. Oh and its painful too.

Heavenly Father, we return to thank You that vengeance is Yours, and that You will repay ... help us to cling to that in spite of the perversion of justice that we see for
Terri. Overrule this travesty, O God, that the guilty would be punished, swiftly and surely. Let the cries of righteous anger fall upon those who stand for the guilty ... we plead the cause of the innocent before the Throne of Grace that this evil might be removed from among us. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen ...

..whatever conversion experience he has claimed to have had, he still owes Caesar (the State) a debt--if it was true for Carla Fay Tucker, it is true for him.

Kenneth Starr's activity here is without excuse.

Crowd gathers in Lodi to light candles for Terri Winchell
By Layla Bohm

As tears glistened in the light of dozens of candles, family members, classmates and strangers gathered Friday night to remember Terri Lynn Winchell, who was murdered just months before her 1981 Tokay High School graduation.

"You are lighting a candle for Terri, you are lighting a candle for justice, you are lighting a candle for every murder victim that has come before," said victims' rights attorney Gloria Allred, who flew in from Los Angeles for the event held in front of the Lodi school.
