Belafonte: Bush kept him from King rites

Legendary entertainer and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte on Tuesday explained his absence from Coretta Scott King's funeral.

Belafonte told reporters before a speech at Case Western Reserve University that President Bush influenced the King family to disinvite him from the funeral in suburban Atlanta on Feb. 7.

Belafonte, known to be a friend of Martin Luther King Jr., said he was told about the decision the day before the funeral, at which he had been scheduled to speak.

The King children made the final decision, Belafonte said, but they were "fiercely intimidated by the president's representatives."

Belafonte has been a vocal critic of the Bush administration.

every MSM newsreader and writer calls him a "legendary" entertainer.....

I remember 1 song... that's it. I know that to be legendary you have to be at least a 2 hit wonder or have been #1 for a year... I'm just trying to figure out where the "legendary" entertainer did his legendary stuff... or even his entertainer stuff... Vegas, Broadway, minstrel show...where?

I agree. Bush is too smart to waste time worrying about Belafonte. Sounds like old Harry's ticked off at the King family, but won't ever criticize a Black person...or every NOT criticize a white one.

"Everyone else is making us behave this way!"

Is ol Harry a muslim, yet? Because he sure has the aptitude and the mindset to be one.

Communist malcontent Harry Belafonte is too deluded with malignant hatred to make the causal connection that he has established himself as being a prime Pariah. Belafonte's irrational rhetoric is terroristic in tone. He's selling his capitalistic multi-million dollar properties in the U.S. Belafonte belongs in Cuba. I believe we should give him a going away party.

"Fact or fiction? "

Let me rephrase my answer:

IMHO it is total BS, a fabrication by Harry and other moonbats that has become fact in eyes/ears of loony left.

More likely Harry was not invited to sit with the dignitaries on the "stage" and therefore did not attend. This just puts a face on his actions typical of his politics...

"Bush did it"... "It's Bush's fault"... etc.

Speaking of countries: Genes, the water, or upbringing?

Colin Powell was born in Harlem, the son of Jamaican immigrants.

Harry Belafonte was born in Harlem, the son of Jamaican immigrants.

I remember 1 song...

Belafonte had a second semi-hit "Mama Look At Bubu". That might be enough to bump him up into the "legendary" category.

I wonder why nobody don't like me
Or is it the fact that I'm ugly?
I wonder why nobody don't like me
Or is it the fact that I'm ugly?

I leave my whole house and home
My children don't want me no more
Bad talk inside de house dey bring
And when I talk they start to sing

"Mama, look at bubu" they shout
Their mother tell them "shut up your mout' "
"That is your daddy", "oh, no"
"My daddy can't be ugly so"
"Shut your mout' " "Go away"

"Mama, look at bubu" dey (ooh)
"Shut your mout' " "Go away"
"Mama, look at bubu" dey

I couldn't even digest me supper
Due to thee children's behavior
John ("Yes, pa")-"come here a moment"
"Bring de belt, you're much too impudent"
John says it's James who started first
James tells thee story in reverse
I drag my belt from off me waist
You should hear dem screamin' round de place

"Mama, look at bubu" they shout
Their mother tell them "shut up your mout' "
"That is your daddy", "oh, no"
"My daddy can't be ugly so"
"Shut your mout' " "Go away"

"Mama, look at bubu" dey (ooh)
"Shut your mout' " "Go away"
"Mama, look at bubu" dey (oh)
