Skull Fashion: Drop-Dead Gorgeous? Wednesday, March 01, 2006 By Samantha Jonas-Hain
Skinny celebrities like Lindsay Lohan are finding new ways to flaunt their bones as grim reaper fashion statements breathe life into this season's hottest trends.
Taking their cue from bottles of arsenic, fashion designers around the world are going gaga for Mr. Skull and Crossbones, adorning everything from jeans to jewelry with his bony image.
"We shipped the first skull jacket out in October and it blew out of the stores," said Melissa Hodgson, president of Anoname, a company that sells denim embroidered jackets and jeans to Macy's stores around the country. "Macy's did a whole ad campaign featuring the skull."
While boho chic is out, death is very in. Fashion pioneer Sienna Miller has been seen accessorizing everything from jeans to dresses with a $450 Alexander McQueen skull-and-crossbones scarf, and Lohan made a killing at a December party wearing the same Thomas Wylde "Skull Row" scarf that Carmen Electra used to keep warm at Utah's Sundance Film Festival.
Lohan, Ashlee Simpson, Kate Moss, Mary-Kate Olsen, Nicky Hilton and Nicole Richie are also partial to the McQueen scarf Lohan has hers in three colors, according to In Touch Weekly.

If I ever needed a picture to make me say "That *HAS* to be Screwtape!!!" that picture would be it.
OMG, can a poor human be more unattractive. (Helen Thomas notwithstanding)
These so called stars can't wear anything original and fashionable. All they do is copy each other and guess a memo is sent down to each of them saying something like: "OK...wear this or that and remember to look as stupid, ignorant and dumb as you can."
They are not the stars of hollywood. They are little personalities and because of that they have to make themselves stand out somehow. Only thing is they all stand out the same way. Stupid, ignorant, classless, and people I am certainly glad I dont' have to look at everyday especially when I can be looking at members of my family who are dignified, classy and filled with respect for themselves and others. hollywood? It's dead. It's over so...maybe them wearing the skulls is a GOOD thing. The funny part about hollywood being dead is the actors/actresses themselves killed it. No big loss.
These shallow twits are so easily thrilled.
I'm sure dresses with suicide bomb belts will be the rage shortly. Hollywood is clearly sinking deeper into depravity. Like watching a bad car accident happen, Hollywood is almost frightening to watch. I might think to leave them to their own devices except for the fact that many will be dragged down along with them.
Please tell me that was a photo shop job : (
Skulls are one of the most popular tattoos. Many kinds of skulls.
I used to have a hot street car I called the "Grim Reaper". It had a little picture of the "Angel of Death" painted on the side. Just the head. Skull with a hood. Sickle too. Just the blade and part of the handle.
What next. Skulls on motorcycles and biker apparel?
I am always amazed at how one moment some silly item is "in" and another is "out".
Today the scarf is $800, tomorrow on the dollar rack.
And all it is, is a silly scarf with some pirate pictures on it.
Yikes! Can't she afford to do something about all the sun-damaged skin on her back? Her back looks like an old yenta in Boca...
Either that or gestapo lapel pins.
Reason one through nine, why the billionares prefer girls like Anna Nicole Smith.
What next. Skulls on motorcycles and biker apparel?
Then skateboards and skateboarder apparel. Where will it all end????
