I remember 30 years or so ago we would not only move over, we would pull over and stop in response to sirens and lights. Try it today in your juristiction. I have recently; the drivers behind me usually copy the behavior.
We still pull over here (eastern NC)for emergency vehicles- and funeral processions. A few months ago, law enforcement started pulling people and leaving the tail end of the officer's vehicle sticking out on the road. They were ticketing passing drivers if the passing driver didn't get in the other lane or slow down to a crawl. They did this with no warning at all. Didn't take us long to figure it out.:)
