It's always been something you need the instructor's permission to do. They claim intellectual property, but since they are being paid by the taxpayers to teach, shouldn't their course material be the property of the school district? This is not a private college or university it's a high school.
I would think that all 100 will get a 3 day suspension for this illegal activity? And maybe have the parents pay a fine for the disruption in education?
What part of the school code gives the students a lawful right to walk out in protest?
Heck, in PA they made tapings illegal if two people are involved. One of the first things that happened after the law was passed was that a cop stopped a reporter to give him a traffic ticket. The cop noticed the reporter had a tape recorder running and filed charges on the reporter for illegally taping a conversation.
They want to protect themselves from getting caught in a lie. Or, in the case of the teacher, the teachers want to be able to deny an allegation and make it one word against another. The tape tells the truth. The truth is the natural enemy of liars.
