Bruce I think qualifies as an iconoclast. He's got a mixed bag of views, sure isn't the typical Hollywood bimbo and just a Joisey boy at heart...

"I want them to take care of the elderly and give them free medicine [...]"

Bruce, Bruce, Bruce... There's no such thing as "free medicine" -- *someone* ends up stuck paying for it.

Didn't Clint Eastwood do this plot twenty years ago as "The Gauntlet" ?

I'm easily annoyed by everybody jumping on the lobbyist issue. Reform may be needed but the concept of lobbying is central to the success of our form of government. First they go after funding and then the messengers. I disagreed with McCain-Feingold and going after lobbyist is the nuclear option in that war. I am happy to discuss reform but the generalizations about getting rid of the lobbyists is just so much thoughtless garbage. I get to together with a couple hundred of fellow like minded Americans and we pay to send a representative to express our point of view.........that's a fundamental right IMHO.

You think there may be a run for office in Bruce's future?

In 2003, he offered $1 million of his own money for the capture of Saddam Hussein. He will pay the same amount for Osama bin Laden; his right-hand man Ayman al-Zawahiri; and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the head of al-Qaeda in Iraq.

Money where his mouth (and heart) is alert, another Hero like Mel Gibson!

I loved his comments about being a Republican. Bruce Willis is right and you guys know it - the party isn't exactly living up to conservative ideals these days. There are very few actors in Hollywood like him. Its a liberal town and all things considered, Willis is amazing. He speaks his mind like no one else and every time he says something, you appreciate him more. Unlike the pretend snobs over there who are full of it.

(Denny Crane: "I Don't Want To Socialize With A Pinko Liberal Democrat Commie. Say What You Like About Republicans. We Stick To Our Convictions. Even When We Know We're Dead Wrong.")

...and they're the last line between us and the wolves and the chaos that's out in the world.

Not mine. I have 2.

1 is Mr. Smith and the other is Mr. Wesson.

Willis reminds me a little of Hemingway's description of Spencer Tracy in The Old Man and the Sea.

"He looks like a fat, very rich actor pretending he's a fisherman."

Yeah, he's a "Republican" all righty.

"I'm a Republican only as far as I want a smaller government." [Snip] "I want the government to... the kids in foster care... take care of the elderly and give them free medicine, give them whatever they need."

Typical liberal hypocrite. He wants bigger government without the responsibility to pay for it.

While I don't completely disagree with that statement, I would suggest that the VERY last line between us and the wolves and the chaos is the 2nd Amendment.

That was well demonstrated by the LA riots a few years ago when the cops bugged out of the riot area and left the law abiding people there alone to defend themselves against wolves and chaos. The people who were armed survived and protected their property, a lot of those who weren't armed didn't. That picture of a Korean merchant standing on the roof of his undamaged store with a semiauto rifle in his hands while other buildings all around his were looted and burning spoke volumes.
