UNC Attacker Sought Revenge (Religious Revenge, not Terrorism)

But Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar appears to have acted alone, campus police say

A UNC-Chapel Hill graduate told investigators he intentionally drove into a crowd of students on campus Friday to "avenge the deaths of Muslims around the world," UNC Police Chief Derek Poarch said Saturday.

Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, 22, told detectives to go to the Carrboro apartment he shared with two other men, saying authorities would find evidence there that would explain his decision to hurt students. Poarch declined to say what, if anything, was found, but emphasized that Taheri-azar appears to have acted alone.

It does not appear that Friday's attack had anything to do with a recent editorial criticizing Arabs and a cartoon depicting the prophet Muhammad in the campus newspaper, both of which angered many Muslim students, Poarch said at a news conference Saturday.

But because Taheri-azar's statements to police suggested a political motive, campus authorities contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation, he said.

Heh, the Rhino' times published it here in Charlotte, guess they better get some barricades up in front of the building. They might have a Jeep Cherokee in their near future.

How many of these "Mohammeds" had their early training in madrassas before moving on to "higher education"? Would we allow "skin head" madrassas in this country to preach hate and foment violence?

IMO, true religions do not preach and teach hate and murder. Cults do.

You know, the really funny part is that the University PC police have NO shame. Everytime they come up with a new double standard (Clinton/Lewinsky sex, just a private matter) they announce it and just go on.

You can't shame these people; they see nothing wrong with changing the rules any time it suits them.

Religious Revenge? That's a nuance that I don't appreciate. As for me I really don't care about his motivation - that's a question for the prosecutor - but he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and put away for a very long time.

In His Apartment

UNC Chapel Hill police say Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar told them he drove into a crowd of students on campus because he wanted to avenge the deaths of Muslims. Officers searched his apartment Friday night and Saturday morning.

Several books and documents remained in Taheri-azar's bedroom Saturday afternoon, including:

"Democracy Matters: Winning the Fight Against Imperialism" by Cornel West.

"Endgame: The Blueprint for Victory in the War on Terror" by retired generals and Fox news analysts Thomas McInerney and Paul Vallely.

A paperback copy of the Quran.

A "Questionnaire for National Security Positions."

U.S. Army pamphlets.

A scrapbook with pictures of racing cars.

Muslim men are cowards and sadists.

If Mohammed rented the SUV, somehow prearranged to get the barricades removed (or had help) and then was there on the Pit driving around hitting people, why did he exit? Why not turn around and come back again? If no one with sense was still in the Pit at least he could face the music there rather than slink off and call the police to turn himself in. Creepy coward.

But I imagine we're going to be treated to quite a trial, don't you think so?

Here is another article.

The new definition for terrorism seems to be that it must involve multiple Muslims and there must be mass casualties.

Sorta flies in the face of the adjectives "very cooperative" doesn't it?

Everytime they come up with a new double standard (Clinton/Lewinsky sex, just a private matter) they announce it and just go on.

Forgive me for drifting off topic by following this reference to Clinton/Lewinsky but THE most upsetting thing to me was how the bottom line of acceptable behavior was INSTANTLY moved.

I remember in the breaking hours of this story EVERYbody -- all MSM talking heads, EVERYbody -- assumed Clinton's resignation was only 24-72 hours away.

But then the MSM decided to just change the rules. And many, many on our side -- not wishing to seem unhip -- started saying "oh, it wasn't the sex...it was the lying."

IMO, it ~was~ the sex, in the Oval Office, with the ~intern~.

...and now back to our regular programming...

Agreed; it fits the definition of a hate crime.

And this looney tune and the Yalie are getting WAY too much face time, imho, when other things should be being discussed by the msm.

He's 22 now, got his ss# in '91....when he was 8 years old. Surely they are investigating the following:

So where are his parents, and why can investigators not find any info about them? If he lived in Charlotte, have they questioned anyone there who knew him and/or his parents? Contacted telephone companies for a listing and address there? And what about the identities and backgrounds of his 2 roommates?
