Like most of the media, it remains obsessed with promoting a will o
the wisp science while ignoring an alternative thats been saving lives
for decades and also avoids ethical concerns.
It's simple. There are a lot of left-leaning types in academic science
(yeah, not as many as in the liberal arts).
They want a technique/problem that will guarantee funding forever,
now that AIDs has leveled out as a "crisis".
Entrepreneurs generally aren't funding embryonic research (AFAIK),
so the next source of cash is the guvmint/taxpayers.
Hence, workable alternatives must be ignored.
(Embryonics may yet be a "magic bullet", but for now, their supporters
really need to keep adult stem-cells out of the public eye as much as possible.)

They want a technique/problem that will guarantee funding forever, now that AIDs has leveled out as a "crisis". This is paranoid rubbish. What percentage of scientists do you think work on embryonic stem cells. 0.01%?
