Israelis see red over Indo-US nuke deal

Jerusalem, March 6: Against the backdrop of the recent Indo-US nuclear deal, the Israeli defence industry has expressed concern that the United States' tightening security ties with India will adversely affect their prospects in one of their key markets.

"The Americans understood Israel is taking a huge market away from them. It took them time to respond, but they eventually did," a source at Israel's defence industries told local daily 'Yediot Ahronoth'.

"From now on it will be much harder to carry out arms deals in India," the source added. "The US plans on turning India into one of its arms industries' main export markets following the recent nuclear deal between the two countries during President Bush's visit to India," the report said.

India had emerged as the single largest purchaser of Israeli defence systems capping the Phalcon deal worth $1 billion.

If this report is accurate, it is funny indeed. Very strange...I hope the news story is false.

If the story is true, it is a lesson in Hypocrisy 101: Unlike Israel, India doesn't steal US State secrets (Pollard), doesn't bomb US ships (USS Liberty), and doesn't sell advanced weapons systems to communist China despite US objections.

I have to laugh at their whining over this. Like we are supposed to feel sorry because we're taking a market away from them? How would they like it if we took ALL US aid away from them? Time to STFU Israel.

Time to STFU Israel.

Don't worry they will just makeup the market share by selling our stuff to China.

Very nice...why don't you answer the substance of my post instead of diverting attention with ineffective sarcasm? Do you deny any of the things I mentioned in my post?

Rice goes to the Arabs for requests such as not to fund Hamas and gets her head handed to her. If Israel can't be bullied, the foreign policy establishment would have no success at all.

US wants a veto on Israel arms sales for 98% reasons of competition.

Sure.....when I post stuff praising Israel (which I do all the time) you never call it crap. However, when I object to Israel arming India's greatest enemy (China), documented history becomes "rote crap."

Get used to criticism, Sabramerican. India does not owe any favors to Israel especially when Israel is busy selling advanced weapons systems to China and Pakistan.

BTW, the substance of my original post stands unless you can provide evidence to the contrary (evidence that is not manufactured by apologists, that is).

"US wants a veto on Israel arms sales for 98% reasons of competition."

How can you be taken seriously with that comment? I support Israel just as most freepers do but that doesn't excuse some of their decisions with respect to arms sales. Competition? They are reselling our technology. If we wanted to end the competition we could be much more direct. Like it or not we supply Israel so the idea that they have a right to compete falls on deaf ears.

Wrong. There is sometimes a disagreement with Israel regarding agreements of technology trasfer as there was recently, now completely resolved.

Israel either sells its own technology, or when US tech is involved, with permission.

Why should Israel not sell India anything it wants, when the US sells nuclear technology to them. India is not an enemy of the US. And considering US sales to China, neither is China.

The Europeans, including the British sell to all these countries in a manner that dwarfs Israel, but that's never discussed.

Israel would not even need an arms industry if it didn't need to produce arms to fight possible wars against enemies who are armed to the gills by the United States.

You're wasting your breath. Some of the individuals on this thread are apologists for Israel at all costs. They know it's wrong, but they don't care. They're the same ones that post the "Free Johnathan Pollard" posts. A traitor to our country.

I have absolutely no beef with Israel...I have been an active supporter of Israel even when it was not fashionable to do so (many years ago in India). I think Israel and India are natural allies in the fight against global Islamic terror and rightly so!

However, the Israeli transfer of technology to China is troubling. And no, the US does not sell sensitive military technology to China (unless we factor in that traitorous pervert BJ Clinton) because to do so would be stupid.

Message to Israel:Stop selling weapons to the communist chinese.

We are Israels best friend in the region and it pisses the US defense department off to no end that they will sell china advanced tech that we share with them. If they keep doing this they may find that they will be alone in the hostile middle east. I love Israel but this has to stop.

"Israel would not even need an arms industry if it didn't need to produce arms to fight possible wars against enemies who are armed to the gills by the United States."

Now you're simply off your rocker. The US is now responsible for Israel needing to defend itself? Oh I forgot, it's Bush's fault. Who is it that Israel is defending itself against that has been supplied in material ways by the US in the last 15 years? Egypt? Saudi Arabia? Jordan? Israel is defending itself against terrorists for the most part. There is not much of a threat of them losing a war and the biggest fear is Iran and their nuclear threat. The biggest risk to us is China and that little bit of idiocy on Israel's part will be in the long term memory banks....fortunately for them there's only space there for a couple of items and I'll forget in say 40 years. I'd also suggest it has not been resolved satisfactorily.

I'm going to end with this.

There is a dissonance in your argument that is as plain as facts.

You consider John Bolton an American patriot? Tom Delay? Don Rumsfeld? Agree that they are know more then you.

They are all pro-Israel.

If Israel was guilty of 25% of what it is accused, why does the US continue to support Israel and sell her sophisticated arms and technology.

Either the issues that concern you are not really what you believe or the US government is itself traitorous. Which would be absurd on its face.

Which would brings us to the next rung of the Israel [Zionist conspiracy] ladder.
