David Duke was a nobody too, but the media gave him tons of attention. That is because David Duke allowed the media to smear Republicans. Smearing Democrats is not something the media cares to do because Democrats are good and this does not fit their stereotype of what a Democrat is. This guy is one of two Democratic Senate candidates. Give the guy the publicity he deserves.

This guy IS getting publicity. He was on TV and in the paper. Now, not being from Ohio, I have no idea what kind of TV station WTOL-TV or what kind of newspaper the Sandusky Register is, but if the media didn't want to make Dems look bad, they wouldn't have ran this story at all. However, I leave open the possibility that these are very tiny media outlets and the story may stay limited to them. I guess I'm just thinking out loud more than anything.
