From what I've been seeing, it's the curriculum, the teachers' colleges, and the teachers' unions that are mostly at fault.

I wouldn't blame anything so personal as a teacher, or anything so sweeping as "the system," but the NEA union, with their political agenda and their dimocrat pol-benefactors need to be thrown out completely! The federal government's involvement needs to be revamped to get rid of the Department of Education, and just send money (ok, military recruiters are fine) to local school districts and through vouchers to wherever the kids get their edjumakashun.
