Solar flares may pack a bigger punch

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A new computer model suggests the next solar cycle will be more active than the previous one, potentially spawning magnetic storms that will be more disruptive to communication systems on Earth.

The next sunspot cycle will be between 30 percent to 50 percent more intense than the last one, scientists said Monday.

The cycle will also begin a year later than expected, in late 2007 or early 2008, and peak around 2012, said Mausumi Dikpati of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado.

The new prediction is at odds with previous forecasts, which suggested that the intensity of the next solar cycle would be measurably smaller.

Accurately predicting the intensity of the sunspot cycle, which occurs about every 11 years, allows scientists to anticipate solar storms. They are caused by solar flares, or giant eruptions that burst from the surface of the sun.

Solar storms, which eject billions of tons of plasma and charged particles into space, can produce dazzling northern lights, but also disrupt power lines, radio transmissions and satellite communication.

The last time the solar cycle peaked was in 2001. During the last cycle, solar storms caused extreme radio blackouts in the Pacific.

For decades, scientists have tracked the solar cycle and appearance of sunspots, but they have been unable to accurately predict the intensity or timing of solar storms, which increase as the number of sunspots increases.

Dikpati, of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, said her team tested the new computer model using previous solar cycle data and had 98 percent accuracy.

This increased solar activity is obviously caused by man-made carbon dioxide emissions.

Lots of Info on 2012!
It's said to be caused by a rise in Earths resonant frequency, reduction of the earths magnetic field, global warming, and possibly the north and south pole of the earth will flip. Its also said that another solarsystem will interfere with ours and the two charaka tubes of the planets will cross, allowing us to make a dimensional shift. The exact sequency of events is still unknown to us..

Do you think the North and South Pole will flip out?

ALL ABOUT 2012

The date December 21st, 2012 A.D. (13.0.0.0.0 in the Long Count), represents an extremely close conjunction of the
Winter Solstice Sun with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (Equator of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic
(path of the Sun), what that ancient Maya recognized as the Sacred Tree. This is an event that has been coming to
resonance very slowly over thousands and thousands of years. It will come to resolution at exactly 11:11 am GMT.

The place where the December solstice sun crosses the Milky Way is precisely the location of the
"dark-rift in the Milky Way ...'xibalba be' - the road to the underworld."

On the winter solstice of 2012, the noonday Sun exactly conjuncts the crossing point of the sun's ecliptic
with the galactic plane, while also closely conjuncting the exact the center of the galaxy.

I just got done digging all the way through the first article on the Google results, and it landed on something I did not know before ... That 2012 Winter solstice? That exact day? There will be a very straight line between the earth, the sun, and the Galactic center. That has not happened since 0.0.0.0.0 . The Mayan calendar tracks earth's precession and the orientation between the earth, the sun, and the Galactic center.

Possible Massive Asteroids as well accoridng to the Winter Solstice Theory.

Actually a huge event will happen accoridng to Scientists in the end of 2011

One incident I would like to have explained ....

Left over from the folklore of the early Pioneers in Texas,

There was one day in the early 1900's, in one area roughly a circle 60 miles across, when the intensity of the sun seemed to increase beyond measure, and the recorded temperatures of those in the area indicated an ambient reading of around 160 degrees farenheit during the noon-day. This was quite fatal to livestock and crops, and anyone exposed.

The day before had been normal for temperature and the day after was normal. As those in the area talked with their neighbors, it became clear that the event was localized to one area, and the survivors were fairly few in number.

No explanation was ever forthcoming for what happened.

The Mayan calender has 360 days a year. That moves it up to this year around October. bye bye

I literally will bet you my entire net worth and every possession I have that absolutely nothing particularly unusual happens in 2012.

Why? Look at the Massive Storms..
The Mayan Calendar is about the end of there Calendar not about the destruction of the planet, although these storms in 12/12/12 can cause the human DNA to change as well as the North and South Pole to flip etc...
