Ben Moseley, 19, and Russell Debusk were taken into custody early Wednesday, officials said, and charged with conspiracy and individual counts in the arsons at five Bibb County churches and four in west Alabama.
A third suspect is still being sought.
Police said they did not receive any tips to lead to the arrest and that it was due to "old-fashioned police work."

My guess is goth types.
I think you misspelled "gay". :D
19 isn't a "juvenile", but glad to hear they got them.
If the guy in the link on post #5 is the right Moseley, he's possibly a drama student. He's apparently been acting in a play - a "psychological thriller" - about how people are drawn into violence and revenge. Ironic, if this is the guy. He sounds like a budding Hollywood star, just the type who'd fantasize about burning Christian churches.
All three are university students' two of them from a methodist school, no joke.
Probably the product of leftist-liberal professors who all think and teach that religion, especially Baptists, are the scum of the earth.

Your guy is a different one, picked up for a copycat burning.
Hadn't heard their college is Methodist, but I've had the tv off for awhile since I heard the breaking news.
There was a similar MO in at least the first few fires, if not all. Investigators said the fires were set from the pulpit area of each church building; at least, that's what I heard. Like they gained entry, then went to where the message is proclaimed and burned the buildings down from that spot.
I had a thought that maybe they don't like that some of these churches preached against homosexuality, for instance, and decided to take their ideas of justice into their own hands, like self-appointed vigilantees against the perceived injustice of homosexuality being called a sin from some of these pulpits. Of course, if true, they would have personal reasons for taking such offense.
I have no reason other than sheer speculation and guesswork for this. I'll be listening to find if the cops and media will give us the truth about what their motive might have been, or if we will hear some sanitized or politically correct version of their motive for burning down a bunch of rural Baptist churches in the South.

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern College and our website.
As a four-year, private liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church, Birmingham-Southern has a long and rich history as one of the nations most recognized liberal arts colleges. "
Since they burned only baptist churches maybe they were trying to start a religious war like the sunni's and Shites..
(wink)
That big'n there is definitely a bubba -- but the caption says he's just a copycat who's not suspected of involvement in the original arson spree.
I doubt the originals were bubbas. That's just not what bubbas do. Unless they're bubbas who got caught up in the Goth thing and are nursing some kind of anti-religious grudge. I've seen them before, these redneck goths.
But that Moseley kid certainly could fit the profile of an angry young liberal -- and possibly gay, given the drama/theatre connection. There's a lot of self-righteous anger on the left these days. After all, they're fighting Fascism. I could see that anger spilling over into a church burning.
Whoops, meant to ping you to #15 (not that it's anything real profound, but since you mentioned Moseley...)
Despite what it says on the website, Birmingham Southern is a very conservative school. It's small, and most students are from small towns throughout the South. If there are anti-religious-hyper-liberals on campus, they're greatly, greatly outnumbered. Oh, and almost everyone I know who went there majored in business.
I'm thinking bestiality here ~ not just your common, ordinary, everyday sort of perversions.
Well, you may think this is wierd, but theyre claiming they set the fires as a "Joke". Apparently they were well known as pranksters on campus. Im guessing theyre going to be well known as being in jail from here on out.
