Their plight brought one hospital official to tears and drew flashes of anger from another yesterday as they described a horrifying case of child molestation and pornography at Children's Convalescent Hospital.
A 54-year-old respiratory therapist has been arrested on 40 counts of possession, manufacture and distribution of child pornography and two counts of lewd and lascivious acts on two children under 14. In all, the charges involve nine children.
A cell phone allegedly was used to take photographs of bedridden children at the 59-bed convalescent center, which is part of the Children's Hospital complex in Kearny Mesa. Some of those images were distributed on the Internet.
Wayne Albert Bleyle, a 26-year employee of the hospital, was taken into custody by San Diego police detectives Wednesday outside Viejas Casino in Alpine. He was booked into the County Jail.
During a news conference yesterday at the hospital, Pamela Dixon, director of the convalescent facility, started crying as she described the condition of some of the children.
“Some are awake and not aware of their surroundings; others are comatose,” Dixon said, her voice breaking as others at the news conference tried to comfort her. “They need hands-on care; they can't care for themselves. Many have been with us for years.”
Bail for Bleyle, a Santee resident, was set at $3 million. He was scheduled to be arraigned today.

This person needs to be put away fro the rest of his UNNORMAL LIFE. Deprive him of light and the beauty of the world. Let him sit in a damp, dark, cell. There is no punishment good enough for him.
You and me both. I get out on the highway anymore and see how hateful and carelss people drive and how angry everyone is and I say: "Let's go home...I hate being out here with all these people."

He's worked there 26 years? Good God, how many children did this happen to and how is that he just now got caught? You know he just didn't just decide to be a pervert last week.
Anyone who works with children should be given a lie detector test in addition to drug testing and asked outright if they are perverts!!!

I've never understand how anyone could harm a child, let alone a child who is terminally ill or critically ill. In my personal book of law: this qualifies as special circumstances, they have definitive proof of his guilt, stand him before the jury and pronounce his sentence. He ceases to exist. Period. end of story.
However, living in the unreal world of CA law, who knows what he will actually get, or IF he even goes to trial!
Hmm.. child porn.. would Federal Law handle this instead of state authorities? And if so, is there any hope that this pervert will actually get what is due to him, here on earth?
Can you imagine the anguish that the parents of these children are going through? The wondering and not knowing.

I agree, Coco, he didn't become a pervert just recently. Surely this has been going on for some time. How is it that no one noticed this behaviour until now? Is there no oversight? Or did someone just turn away with "ostrich" syndrome..........or abetted.
