In my opinion, we already had one attempt at OU in Norman Oklahoma last fall.

"Everyone said he was a depressed kid, suicidal."
Sorry to say there have been depressed suicidal kids since the world began, and some of them have offed themselves, but very, very few blow themselves up sitting on benches outside stadia filled with people.
What does the gov't take us for that they think we can't see what is plainly before us?

Yes, look at the panic generated by two bozos with a gun, one of them firing from the trunk of their car. Nearly shut down half of the east coast.

Lucky for us, the average Islamofaschist does not have the knowledge on how to use/create mass dispersal chemical agents.
To: demkicker
I don't think it was accidentally thwarted.
I think it was on purpose thwarted.

"The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security say they cannot confirm the credibility of the threat or whether the message is affiliated with al Qaeda."
NOTE : The following post does not apply to
those FReepers who are
1) Active Duty
2) Those with disabilities
3) Care givers of those with disabilities
4) Those with financial hardships
5) Those who actually support our troops in other ways.
IF people REALLY cared, they would get away from the computer and actually do something,
in the real world, to actually assist Homeland Security.
I've done it each and every week,
often more than once a week,
since Oct 2001
I don't receive a dime and even pay for my own uniforms.
The choice is either "listen" to all the pros and cons
or actually be part of the solution.
http://nws.cgaux.org/visitors/ps_visitor/index.html PS You'll have to leave your "politics"
at the door while you wear the uniform.

See post 99.
All it takes is one that does, but you are right in that not all of them have this knowledge.

Ventured a post on a port thread, did ya?Ohh yeahhh. I even proudly participated on the Harriet Miers thread(s) of yore. Such activities are not recommended for people of weak constitution, or thin skin! I saw every element except an opus, but some are still at the fray. If you see an opus in the next couple of days, please ping me to it.

They tried to do this at that one soccer game but were thwarted.

There is also some slightly more recent movie named Black October I think, a 90s production.

Nothing will happen. Bush and the media will cover the whole bombing up. The government doesn't want there to be an "official" terrorist act because the economy will tank. The only way for there to be a terrorist act would have to be something so big and huge that it will be impossible to cover up. It would be have to be undeniable, but that does not guarantee that Bush will unleash hell on the enemy.

Lots of variables. For sure. In an indoor arena, a more efficient panic vector might be "poison gas," even a false poison gas such as gallons of bleach dumped, running down the stairs and under the seats, and evaporating with great stink. A certain percentage will succumb to mass hysteria in such circumstances, and literally pass out. (We see this in high school cafeterias once in a while. It's a well know psychological phenomenon.)
Once that percentage passes out, it will "prove" to many of the others who are smelling the odor that they are indeed witnessing the effects of poison gas. That will in turn trigger the panic stampede.
Panic is the real killer in venues where people are packed together. The trick is for terrorists to engineer the panic in a deliberate manner, to leverage mass casualties from a minor cause.

So, what do you think now - can we sell American sports stadiums to the UAE? Well, today I saw a graphic on FOX that stated that 80% of US ports are operated by foreign companies...so if they can control our ports (except the UAE), then why not the stadiums?
